A 2-day Super Jeep Expedition

During this 2 day excursion, we will introduce among the beautiful Icelandic scenery, the specially-designed and equipped Icelandic Super Jeep. The trip will start by first the National Park Þingvellir, a highly interesting geological region and the most significant historical site of the country for, among other things, its ancient parliament, Alþingi. Then, we'll continue via Lyngdalsheiði to Laugarvatn, a popular tourist resort and an important educational center by a lake of the same name. Onwards to the impressive Gullfoss waterfall and the geothermal region of Geysir, where we'll enjoy our lunch break before proceeding into the highlands to explore Þjórsárdalur, a valley in which Iceland's longest glacier river runs through amidst beautiful surroundings.

If accessible, our next stop will be “The door to the Icelandic highland”, Hrauneyjar, which is situated at the edge of the country’s most impressive, and active volcanic area. The surrounding of Hrauneyjar is a paradise for those who wish to come in contact with the powerful forces of untamed Icelandic nature. Accommodation in mountain hut or guesthouse in surrounding area.

The beautiful day will continue into the highlands - crossing rugged lava fields, valleys surrounded by mysterious mountains and craters. Around dusk, one will begin to notice weird faces in the landscape, so it is a comfort to arrive at last at Landmannalaugar. The word laugar refers to the naturally warm baths near the lodge, where you will have time to relax and bathe in the hot-spring river. For those who do not want to bathe in the hot springs, there are several hiking possibilities in the area. Homeward bound, we'll drive over lava-covered highlands before reaching Reykjavík.
