Southern Dalmatia - Family cruise

Croatia Bike + Boat Tour

This summer cruise in Southern Dalmatia is a new kind of Island Hopping tour particularly well-suited for families. Spend a week on a charming barge that takes you from island to island, sparing you the nuisance of packing suitcases and searching for accommodations.

Along with overnights in ports, you also spend some nights in quiet bays. Decide each day anew whether you would like to go on a bike trip, go rafting, or stroll leisurely through the unique small harbor towns of the Adriatic.

You might decide to spend the day relaxing on board. This is indeed a pleasant way of exploring southern Dalmatia, possibly Croatia’s most attractive landscape. A well-informed tour guide is always available and can point out the various possibilities of creating an active or a relaxed holiday. You surely will not want to pass up the opportunity of jumping directly from the boat to the sea for a daily swim! Through little stories, legends and the country’s cultural treasures, you will get in touch with Croatia’s eventful history.

DAY 1: Arrival in Togir
Arrival by plane to Split airport. After check in on the motor yacht, the first short cruise starts at 1 pm from Trogir to Split where you will take your first guided walk to the Marjan mountain, a popular relaxation destination for the inhabitants of Split. After this, your guide will walk you through the old town of Split, which is built adjoining the famous palace of the Roman Caesar Diokletian and is a world heritage site.

DAY 2: Cetina Canyon, Island of Brac, rafting (2 hours) or cycling 7.5 miles (12 km)
After a short cross, you will reach Ornis on the Croatian mainland with its pirate castles. Here you will have the option of taking part in a two hour rafting tour on the Cetina River. A second possibility is to take part in a short (7.5) cycling tour into the valley of the Cetina River, which has buried itself deep into the cliff faces. In the afternoon we cross over to Brac Island with a swim break. The island of Brac is very famous for its white marble which has been used for the White House in Washington and the Reichstag in Berlin.

DAY 3: Brac Island, 6.2 miles (10 km)
After breakfast, the 6.2 mile ride will start from Pučišća. The tour runs along small asphalted roads and forest tracks until it ends at a lonely bay where the boat already awaits. You can take a refreshing swim to the boat or take a jollyboat. After lunch, the boat will cruise to a quiet spot for the night. On the way, you may enjoy a longer swim in the crisp, clean waters.

DAY 4: Mljet and Korcula Islands
In the morning, the boat will cruise to Mljet, which is also known as the honey island. In the 12th century, Benedictine monks founded a beautifully situated monastery, which you will see on a short bike trip. The local pine forest is one of the most beautiful of its kind in the entire Mediterranean region; Odysseus is said to have spent 7 years here. Today, this region is a National park and one of the highlights of every Dalmatian journey. You will spend nearly the whole day here. The National park can be explored by bicycle, on foot, or by kayak. In the late afternoon, the boat will cruise to Korcula Island, where there will still be enough time for a brief walk through the island capital, which competes with Venice for the honor of being Marco Polo’s birthplace.

DAY 5: Korcula and Hvar Islands, 7 miles (11 km) bike or hike
From Korcula Town, the cycle tour follows a very slightly ascending coastal road to the beautiful harbour of Racišce. From there, you will cross to the island of Hvar, with a possible break for swimming. After arrival in Hvar Town, there will be a sight-seeing tour through town, across the large Renaissance Square enclosed by the cathedral and many late-Gothic palaces, then a walk up to the Spanish fortress overlooking the town. From this point, there is a fabulous view across the town and the surrounding islands. The surroundings of Hvar Town can be explored either in the afternoon.

DAY 6: Hvar Island, bike Stari Grad - Jelsa, or explore on foot
In the morning the San Snova will take you to Stari Grad on the north end of the Island. After arrival, you will undertake a small guided tour through the beautiful Old Town, which has become a Mecca for artists and art lovers in the past few years. Afterwards, there will be a short cross over to Jelsa. Alternatively, you can cycle from Stari Grad to Jelsa. After lunch, you will cross to Bol, located opposite on the island of Brac. Starting from the harbor, it is easy to walk to the famous "Golden Horn“, a pebble beach extending so far into the sea that it has taken the form of a horn. The surroundings of Bol and the "Golden Horn“ can be explored by bike, as well.

DAY 7: Brac Island - Solta Island - Trogir
After breakfast, you will head for Solta Island. The last cycle tour leads from Maslinica to Grohote, where you can enjoy honey tasting before the cycle back to the boat, which is waiting to cruise to Trogir.  There will be a leisurely guided walk through the lovely old quarters of Trogir to end this vacation. The last evening aboard includes the communal dinner and a last get-together in a cosy atmosphere with crew and tour guides.

DAY 8: Disembarkment in Trogir
Guests are expected to check out after breakfast.
