Trogir to Dubrovnik

Croatia Bike + Boat Tour

You are about to embark on a unique experience, a special island hopping tour that takes you to several of the more than one thousand dazzling islands that dot the Croatian coastline. This tour will be  a unique fusion of beautiful nature and thousands of years of cultural tradition and history. There will be times that you will feel as if you have stumbled upon lands that time forgot.  Centuries old olive groves and vineyards, ancient towns and villages, and  people for which the sea and the fruit of the land is still a way of life are the highlights of this tour. You will celebrate that indeed there are still places like this, places in which you can truly forget the frantic pace of your daily life.

The tour begins in Trogir, a historic town and harbor, situated on a small island between the Croatian mainland and the island of Ciovo, and ends in Dubrovnik, nicknamed, "Pearl of the Adriatic". You will also experience the beautiful island of Korèula with its picturesque old town, the wine growing peninsula of Pelješac, and to the south of the peninsula, the island of Mljet, with its impressive national park. Your tour guide will guide you through the towns of Trogir, Hvar, Stari Grad and Korèula, which are almost all protected by UNESCO‘s world heritage list. You will also visit the small village of Ston with its amazing defense wall from the 15th century, also called the “Chinese wall”.

You will end your visit with the highlight of this special tour, the world-famous city of Dubrovnik with its impressive and well-preserved fortification system. Dubrovnik is steeped in stunning architecture, sculptural detail, and boasts spectacular churches, monasteries, museums, and fountains. After this experience, you will agree with George Bernard Shaw who, after time spent in Dubrovnik, said, "Those who seek paradise on Earth should come to Dubrovnik and see Dubrovnik."

**This tour is also available from Dubrovnik to Trogir, either as an 8 day tour (itinerary is simply reversed) or as a 7 day tour, omitting the island of Lastovo.**

*All distances are approximate. The above planned itinerary is subject to change due to changing wind and weather conditions and other unforeseen circumstances having to do with mooring requirements, etc.

DAY 1: Trogir - Solta, 12.5 mi./20km
Individual arrival by plane to Split airport, which is about 3 mi. away from the boarding harbor of Trogir. After check in on the motor yacht, the tour begins at 1 pm with lunch on board. In the afternoon, you take a guided tour through the beautiful old town of Trogir before the boat leaves at 6 pm for the nearby island of Solta.

DAY 2: Islands of Solta and Hvar, 12 and 16 mi,19 and 25 km
After breakfast our first cycle tour from Maslinica to Stomorska starts. Walled fields, numerous olive groves, locust bean and fig trees line the roads. The smells of lavender and rosemary accompany you along your tour of this island. In Stomorska, the boat awaits for a crossover to Stari Grad (literally "Old Town") on the island of Hvar, an oasis of culture. The former Greek colony is starting point for the afternoon ride. The destinations of this part of the day's touring are the picturesque harbors of Jelsa and Vrboska.

DAY 3: Islands of Hvar and Vis, 12.5 mi/20 km.
From Stari Grad, the tour leads you along the almost traffic free country road through small villages to Hvar town. Once you arrive in Hvar town, you will undertake a guided tour around the town across the large Renaissance square (Pjaca). You will see St. Stephens Cathedral. This is a triple-aisled church with a nice 17th-century bell tower and is a harmonious synthesis of the Renaissance, manneristic, and early Baroque styles, so typical of the Dalmatian architecture of the 15th and 16th centuries. The inside has quite a few late Renaissance paintings and a nice wooden 16th-century choir area. You may also climb to the Spanish fort. Here you will enjoy an amazing view over the ocean and the Paklenica Islands. In the afternoon, you will embark to Vis island.

DAY 4: Islands of Vis and Korcula, 20 mi/32km
Vis is the Croatian island located furthest from the mainland. 2.000 years ago it was already a Greek colony by the name of Issa. On account of its strategically important location, it was, along with Lastovo, a military zone prohibited to foreign tourists until 1995. On today’s cycling tour, you will explore the island. After lunch, crossover to Vela Luka on the island of Korcula.

DAY 5: Islands of Korcula and Lastovo, 19 mi/30 km
From Vela Luka you will cycle, passing Blato, which like Rome, was built on seven hills, to Brna. Peaceful, remote, gardens with large cypresses dominate Korcula, perhaps the most beautiful Dalmatian island. From Brna, the ship heads to Lastovo island, where the entire afternoon is at your disposal for swimming or relaxing. Lastovo is one of the least inhabited islands in the Adriatic. The emperor Augustus appreciated its mild climate and in Roman times it was even named "Augusta Insula" after him. The population of the island is just over a thousand. The people still make their living fishing the bountiful waters and also from agriculture and wine.

DAY 6: Islands of Lastovo and Korcula, 16 and 19 mi/25 and 30 km
In the morning you will bike and explore the island of Lastovo, famous for the yellow-golden white wine "Marastina", known well beyond Croatia's borders. After Lastovo, the ship takes us back to Korcula. From Brna you will cycle in the afternoon on the old pass roads past the Pupnat Bay. Finally you will reach Pupnat and then on to Korèula.

DAY 7: Pelijesac Peninsula and Dubrovnik, 19 mi./30km
Pelješac impresses visitors even from afar with its Sv. Ilja Mountain, which rises almost 1000 meters from the sea. After a short cruise in the morning, you will take a cycle tour from Prapratno to Ston. The amazing fortress of Ston, built in the 15th century, is the longest defense wall of all of Europe. After a coffee break in Ston, you will continue cycling to Slano on the mainland, where the boat embarks to Dubrovnik. You will have enough time to participate in a guided tour through the town and for a walk to the impressive city walls.

DAY 8: Departure from Dubrovnik
