Horseback Riding Tours

Icelanders keep the bloodlines of their shaggly little equines pure by forbidding the import of others. Experts and novices alike enjoy riding in the Icelandic countryside on their famous breed of small, strong horses. The Icelandic Horse is a pure-bred descendant of the horses transported to Iceland by the Vikings over 1,100 years ago. Lava Tour

An adventurous ride from the Riding Centre into the lava fields surrounding Mt. Helgafell volcano and into the Kaldársel area or to Lake Hvaleyrarvatn. Transfer back to hotels and guesthouses at 12:30, 4:30 and 7:00pm.

Lava Tour with Lunch

An adventurous ride from the Riding Centre into the lava fields surrounding Mt. Helgafell volcano, or to Lake Hvaleyrarvatn and into the Kaldársel area. Our horses are well suited both for the beginner and the more advanced rider. Enjoy lunch at Jósalir Restaurant at the Riding Centre (soup, salad bar, a hot dish and coffee) after the morning ride or before the afternoon ride. Transfer back to hotels at 12:30, 2:00 and 4:30pm.
