Overview
A bike and barge tour beginning in Bruges and ending in Amsterdam showcases the best of both Belgium and Holland.
The motto in Bruges is, "Feel the past under your feet," and you surely will! Or, should we say, under the wheels of your bicycle! The city’s crisscrossing canals and cobblestone streets have seen many seafaring traders since the 9th century and retain a lively and invigorating atmosphere reminiscent of one of Jan van Eyck's 15th-century masterpieces.
A tranquil Flemish landscape is your backdrop and as you enter Holland, your cycling itinerary will lead to the quaint villages of Goes in central Zeeland and the seaside town of Willemstad.
An impressive finish in Amsterdam awaits. With over 6,800 historical buildings and an endless array of canals and bridges, Amsterdam is truly a sight to see (along with Rembrandt's famous Nightwatch on display in the Rijksmuseum).

Extra Info
Skill Level — Easy
This is an easy bike and boat tour highlighting areas that are predominantly flat. The average daily distances are approximately 35 miles over designated bikes paths or good rural asphalted roads with little traffic. When entering or exiting towns or cities, more traffic will be encountered.
Airport Info
Fly into and out of Amsterdam Schiphol Airport (AMS) or fly to Brussels Zaventem Airport (BRU). You can depart from Amsterdam Schiphol Airport or return to Brussels at end of tour.
Local Travel
Arrival:
From the Amsterdam Schiphol Airport, you can purchase train tickets to Bruges at the TICKET COUNTER in the “Arrivals Hall” of the airport. From there you just go down the escalator to the train terminal. The train to Bruges takes approximately 4 hours and costs about €43 (a more expensive, and faster train is also available). From the Brussels Zaventem Airport, you can take the train to Bruges Central Station. The railway station is located under the airport building at level 1. The train departs every hour and the ride takes about 1 hour and 50 minutes - cost around €20 per person. The ride requires one connection.
Departure:
Your tour ends in Amsterdam. Depending on the docking location of your specific boat, the train station could even be within walking distance of Amsterdam Central Train Station. From here, there are trains that depart frequently to Amsterdam Schiphol Airport or back to Brussels.Climate
Please check local conditions before travel. The climate in Holland is considered maritime, greatly affected by the sea. Belgium as well is influenced by the North Sea and the Atlantic Ocean, with cool summers and moderate winters.
Day of Rest
You can always stay on board ship and sail to the next stop.
Remarks
Due to variations in wifi signal strength and speed, If you are dependent on a constant, strong, fast, and reliable signal at all times, please consider a a personal hot spot.
Important to know
Documents:
Before you travel, please check the passport and visa requirements of the country/countries you plan to visit. Please be informed that it is your responsibility to ensure that you have proper identification. For US citizens, the U.S. Passports & International Travel website is a good source of information. The Country Information tab provides details about passport validity, blank passport pages required, etc. It is important to research before you travel as airlines will not permit boarding if you do not have the required valid documents.
*Important note: Please check on the European Travel Information and Authorization System (ETIAS) status as once implemented, this will be required to visit any of the 26 Schengen-member countries for tourism, business, medical, or transit. This is an additional check on security rather than a visa.
Extra Stay
If you would like to book extra days in Amsterdam, Bruges, or elsewhere in Holland or Europe, we advise Booking.com for researching and reserving your extra nights. You can read a detailed description of the hotels offered including a clear listing of amenities, but more importantly, you can view customer reviews and ratings..
