The city of Bordeaux is known all over the world thanks to its famous vineyards, so it is a logical starting point for your cycling trip. You will follow an itinerary that will guide you from the ‘Entre deux mers’ area to the land of ‘Haut Médoc’.
Smell the delicate and fruity fragrances diffusing from the infamous vineyards and learn about the glorious and turbulent past of this old region.

Itinerary
Day 1: Arrival in Bordeaux
Day 2: Bordeaux - Cadillac, 30 mi. (48 km)
Option: Add an extra night in Cadillac & excursion to Sauternes vineyards, 28 mi. (46 km)
Day 3: Cadillac - Saint-Émilion, 30 mi. (50 km)
Day 4: Saint-Émilion - Blaye, 40 mi. (64 km)
Day 5: Blaye - Bordeaux, 38 mi. (61 km); optional loop to Pauillac, 12 mi. (20 km)

Day 1: Arrival in Bordeaux
After arriving at your centrally located hotel, try out your bikes and cycle Bordeaux, with its numerous green, flowered fields and its exceptional heritage followed by gastronomic delights and an exciting nightlife.Day 2: Bordeaux - Cadillac, 30 mi. (48 km)
Leave the town center of Bordeaux and embark on an easy ride on a rustic cycling path that will lead you to Créon, a typical fortified village common of this area. Continue through the vineyards of Cadillac until the wall of the village surrounds you.

Today’s adventure is a loop through the vineyards. After a ride between forests and vineyards, the Chateau Yquem will appear and invite you to discover another taste: a sweet, white wine highly appreciated by wine lovers! Ride from the deep cellars to the quaint routes through the vineyards. En route, you will have the opportunity to stop at the Toulouse-Lautrec, a resting place before coming back to Cadillac via Loupiac.

This stage of your Bordeaux bike tour leads you through the heart of the ‘Entre-deux Mers’ vineyards, from the Garonne to the Dordogne river. You will have the opportunity to visit the charming village of Rauzan, overlooked by its dignified medieval chateau, before reaching the prestigious village of Saint-Émilion, one of the richest villages in historical testimonies due to its Roman history & Romanesque architecture as well as being a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Leave behind Saint-Émilion and its great vintage wines to ride along the wine appellation “Bordeaux Supérieur”. Blaye is also a famous wine region and known for its citadel overlooking the Gironde River built by Vauban during the 17th century.

Your day begins by crossing the Gironde Estuary by boat to Lamarque and the Médoc vineyards. You will smell the salt in the air today because an estuary is a widening channel of a river where it nears the sea. For the most courageous and for vintage wine lovers, a detour towards Pauillac is a must! Then, for a wonderful finishing touch, stop at the prestigious Château Margaux before riding to Bordeaux.

This Bordeaux bike tour is classified as a moderate to difficult self-guided hotel tour with 5 days of cycling (from 30 to 38miles per day). The terrain includes hills! Electric bicycles available upon request.
Airport Info
Fly to Paris CDG International Airport or Bordeaux International Airport (BOD).
Local Travel
From Paris, you can take the TGV train.
There is now a high-speed TGV train with direct route from Paris to Bordeaux and vice versa that runs several times each day.
From Paris center (Gare Montparnasse), TGV train is about 2 hours.
From CDG airport in Paris to Bordeaux, TGV train is about 3.5 hours. Book tickets in advance, they can sell out.
Please note that TGV travel requires advance reservation. You can visit the SNCF website for more information and to book.Climate
Classified as having an ‘oceanic climate’ due to its location on the west coast of France, the Bordeaux area actually tends to enjoy warmer summers and milder winters than its other oceanic climate counterparts. In actuality, it can feel more like a Mediterranean climate. Be sure to check local conditions before your arrival.

Electric bicycles are available upon request. E-bikes have a universal frame, equipped with 2 back saddlebag, one front bag & map holder, bottle holder, safety vest, repair kit, lock, helmet, and one counter (per booking)
