This bike tour in Austria and Germany begins and ends in Salzburg, city of culture and music. Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, one of the most influential composers in the history of classical music, was born here in 1756. His early life and musical education took place in the city, and his presence left an indelible mark on Salzburg's cultural identity.
The route leads you across the Chiemsee, the largest lake in the Bavarian Alps, to the Inn Valley, Northern Tyrol, and then back again to Mozart's birthplace.
Salzburg is a highlight for sure, but this tour also offers Bavarian landscapes, Alpine views, lakes, rivers, and more!
Explore the pathways that once inspired Mozart as you pedal through these richly historic landscapes.

Skill Level — Moderate
This is a moderate, self-guided tour. There are 6 days of cycling with distances ranging from 31 to 47 miles (50 - 75 km). Biking is mainly on flat routes but there are also hilly sections. Between the Inn Valley and Salzburg, you must master a few gradients, but the view will be worth it. Most of the riding is on bike paths and country roads with little traffic. Very brief portions of the route (never longer than one or two kilometers) will be covered on moderately busy roads as you enter and exit cities or larger towns. You should be in good physical condition and have cycling experience for this tour.
