Update from Hennie: Pindaya, Myanmar, area of the Danu Tribe
Today was an awesome day and reminded me again of how I love to bike! It was cool in the morning and then began to warm up. We're staying in a nice hotel, all cabins built with bamboo. The floor is made of weaved bamboo, the walls everything. This vacation is not for someone who wants to sleep in every morning! We have breakfast at 6 and are on the bike at 7 am. We biked about 62 km today with a tough 6 km climb. We stop often for tea, snacks, soup (cost 50 cents) etc. The soil here is red/ocre, reminiscent of Arizona, but with a different landscape of course. It is mostly farm land and is the plowing season. Once the farmers used cattle for this and some still do!
Today for the first time I used my Go Pro camera. I think I'm going to give it to the guide after I have down loaded all the pictures after the trip. He will love it and had never seen one. He tells stories of how difficult it is for him to run a company in this military government!
Another reminder of the freedom we have.
We're going to visit the Pindaya cave now.
