Ride riverside paths through vineyards, forests, and medieval towns while discovering Roman history, Gothic cathedrals, regional cuisine, and the renowned Riesling wines of the Moselle. Guided visits and time to explore on your own provide opportunities to experience the character of each destination.

Day 1: Arrival in Basel
Day 2: Strasbourg – Obernai – Strasbourg, 27 mi. (42 km)

Day 1: Arrival in Basel
Arrive in Basel and board your riverboat. After settling into your cabin, join an afternoon welcome and tour introduction before the ship departs at 5:00 p.m., beginning your cruise down the Rhine toward France.Day 2: Strasbourg – Obernai – Strasbourg, 27 mi. (42 km)
The first ride introduces the Alsace region, where French and German influences come together in the local culture, architecture, and cuisine. Explore Strasbourg's historic center, home to its magnificent Gothic cathedral and the canals and half-timbered houses of the UNESCO-listed Grande Île. Continue through vineyard-covered hills and traditional Alsatian villages to Obernai, one of the region's best-preserved medieval towns. A countryside picnic lunch completes the day before returning to Strasbourg.Day 3: Speyer – Heidelberg – Mannheim, 34 mi. (56 km)
Begin in Speyer, home to one of the world's largest Romanesque cathedrals and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. From here, cycle across the fertile Rhine plain to Heidelberg, Germany's oldest university town, where lively squares, cobbled streets, and the ruins of Heidelberg Castle overlook the Neckar River. Follow the scenic riverside route to Mannheim, where your ship awaits.Day 4: Middle Rhine Valley: Rüdesheim – Koblenz, 41 mi. (67 km)
Today's ride follows one of the Rhine's most celebrated stretches through the UNESCO-listed Middle Rhine Valley. Cycle past terraced vineyards, medieval villages, and hilltop castles while passing the legendary Loreley Rock, where Rhine folklore comes to life. Finish in Koblenz at the Deutsches Eck, the dramatic meeting point of the Rhine and Moselle rivers.Day 5: Moselle Cruise and Cochem, 18 mi. (30 km)
Cruise into the Moselle Valley before beginning today's ride in Cochem, watched over by the hilltop Reichsburg Castle. Follow the winding Moselle through one of Germany's most renowned wine regions, passing traditional wine villages and the Bremmer Calmont – Europe's steepest vineyard. The day concludes with a tasting of regional Moselle Rieslings before returning to the ship.Day 6: Cologne, 13 mi. (20 km)
Discover Cologne by e-bike, exploring one of Germany's oldest cities. Visit the soaring Gothic Cologne Cathedral, stroll through the historic Old Town, and ride along the Rhine past lively neighborhoods, waterfront promenades, and modern architecture.Day 7: Amsterdam and IJsselmeer , 34 mi. (55 km)
Enjoy a final ride through the peaceful Waterland region, where quiet roads wind past canals, meadows, and traditional Dutch villages. Return to Amsterdam and spend the afternoon on a guided canal cruise through the city's historic waterways before gathering for a farewell dinner aboard the ship.Day 8: Departure from Amsterdam

Skill Level — Easy
This tour follows mostly flat to gently rolling terrain, with the majority of cycling taking place on paved bike paths, quiet country roads, and dedicated riverside cycle routes. Short sections may use low-traffic local roads or well-maintained gravel paths. While most days are easy, a few routes in the Rhine Gorge and Moselle Valley include moderate hills and occasional longer climbs, making an e-bike a comfortable choice for many riders.

Fly into EuroAirport Basel Mulhouse Freiburg (BSL) and out of Amsterdam Airport Schiphol (AMS).
Local Travel
The tour begins in Basel, Switzerland, and ends in Amsterdam, the Netherlands. EuroAirport Basel Mulhouse Freiburg (BSL) is located about 5 miles (8 km) northwest of Basel city center. Frequent airport shuttle buses connect the airport to Basel SBB Railway Station in approximately 20 minutes, with taxis also readily available.
At the end of the tour, Amsterdam Airport Schiphol (AMS) is approximately 11 miles (18 km) southwest of the city center and is easily reached by frequent direct trains from Amsterdam Centraal Station in about 15–20 minutes or by taxi.
Climate
Switzerland, France, Germany, and the Netherlands enjoy a temperate climate with warm summers and mild spring and autumn seasons, making late spring through early fall ideal for cycling. Average daytime temperatures range from 60–77°F (16–25°C) during the cycling season, though conditions can vary slightly between the Alps, river valleys, and the Dutch lowlands. Rain showers are possible throughout the season, so lightweight rain gear is recommended.
Day of Rest
You’re welcome to remain on board and enjoy a relaxing day cruising the Rhine or Moselle if you choose not to ride. The ship travels to the next destination, where you’ll rejoin the group.
