Dordrecht, steeped in history since its inception with city rights granted as early as 1220, proudly holds the title of Holland's oldest city. The city center boasts around 1,000 meticulously preserved monuments.Venturing into Dordrecht's historic heart reveals a treasure trove of architectural marvels from the Golden Age and beyond. Among its gems stands a museum, born from the vision of art aficionados and collectors in 1842, enriching the cityscape with its cultural offerings.

Once marshland, painstakingly reclaimed over centuries, this landscape now hosts a mesmerizing ensemble of windmills. Dating back to the 18th century, these 19 windmills stand as silent sentinels, tirelessly pumping excess water from the polders to ensure fertile lands for agriculture.
