Overview
This beautiful hike focused mainly in the Czech Republic features some of the most unique landscapes in the country. The route leads well off the beaten track deep into the Bohemian Switzerland National Park.
Why is it called Bohemian Switzerland if Switzerland is not part of the itinerary, you ask? We did too! As you hit the trail and enter the magical landscape of the national park and the Lusatian Mountains, you will soon see why. Even the Swiss say this place reminds them of home. It is the stuff of fairytales. Locals sometimes call it the Land of Narnia since some of the key scenes from The Chronicles of Narnia movie were filmed here.
Giant sandstone karsts with deep rock gorges dominate the landscape, thick mystical forests of cedar, pine, and fir, scent the air, authentic, and picturesque half-timbered villages add to the charm and magic.

Extra Info
Skill Level — Moderate
This self-guided hike is rated moderate. Though there is nothing extreme as far as terrain and the trails are well traveled, there are ascents that must be tackled in order to take full advantage of the incredible vistas.
Airport Info
We suggest that you fly into and out of Prague International Airport (PRG) so that you can add this beautiful city to your itinerary. Ask us about accommodations and a Prague city tour by bike. You can also fly into and out of Dresden (DRS) if you prefer.
Local Travel
Czech Railways (ČD) operates a train from Prague (PRG) to Bad Schandau every 4 hours. Tickets cost about €12 and the journey takes 1h 51m.
Climate
This tour is offered during the ideal time to travel to the park, which offers average temperatures a few degrees less than in Prague. Within the park itself, you will find significant temperature differences between the gorges and the peaks of the rocks. These peaks and valleys, as well as the forests provide shades along hiking trails. Early morning finds a blanket of cool fog, a result of the inversion, typical of the rugged terrain. The early morning mist usually disappears as the morning progresses and warms.. The temperature rises to summer levels but not too high. There are unique species of plants and animals located here, which are accustomed to the temperatures changes within the landscape. Please check local conditions before your arrival.
Recommended
We recommend that you wear good hiking shoes and bring a day pack that can accommodate your needs throughout the day.
