Seven hundred kilometers off the coast of Morocco lies one of Europe's prime adventure destinations, Madeira. An island of volcanic origin with a rough and bountiful nature, this is the perfect location for adventure.
The mountain barrier splitting the island in two gives Madeira its extraordinary variety of landscapes and its lush vegetation has earned it the nickname “floating garden of the Atlantic”.

Arrive at Madeira airport and transfer to Funchal, the main town of Madeira located on the sunny southern coast of the island.Accommodation for this night and all following nights: 4* Hotel Madeira Panoramico, with sea view with swimming pool and restaurant overlooking the bay of Funchal. Day 2: Funchal - Baia d'Abra - Prainha - Funchal, 6 mi. (10 km)
You will be transferred to the São Lourenço Point. On this African-like strip of land, this hike explores the long thin peninsula at the eastern end of the island through a natural reserve covered in scrubby vegetation offering spectacular views over the Atlantic ocean and the magnificently colorful cliffs. Today you will enjoy a mountain bike tour along the levadas (small irrigation canals) through an endemic laurel forest, along with pine and eucalyptus forest. You will then ride to the Portela pass offering spectacular views over the Penha d’Aguia mountain and the fishing village of Porto da Cruz. On the way, you can stop off in the small village of Camacha, well known for its traditional wicker factory. (B, D)Activity: Cycling

From the beautiful forest house of Queimadas, you will descend into the depths of the earth along the Caldeirão Verde levada carved out of the rock and winding its way through a primary forest inscribed on the UNESCO’s World Heritage list. At the end of the path, you will discover an impressive waterfall running into a crystal-clear lake. (B, D)Activity: 5-hour walk

First, transfer to Pico do Arriero (40 min). You will then hike across the mountain ridge trails to the highest peaks of the island. The scenery is breathtaking with rocky peaks and deep gorges. If the weather cooperates, at Pico Ruivo, you will enjoy panoramic views over the island and the island of Porto Santo in the distance. (B, D)Activity: 5 1/2 hour walk

A transfer will take you to Paul da Serra plateau and its timeless atmosphere at 1500 meters above sea level, where the moorland stretches as far as eyes can see. You will feast on magnificent views over the central ridge of the island and the north coast. After a series of ascents and descents, you will ride down the hills of Calheta to the fishing village of Paul do Mar on the South coast. (B, D)Activity: Cycling

This tour offers two levels of accommodations. The 4-star option is the Hotel Madeira Panoramico. Boasting wonderful views of Funchal and the Atlantic Ocean, just 3 km from the city center, this 4-star hotel features indoor and outdoor pools and a luxurious spa. Please note that transfers to the walk are on average about one hour. The 3-star option features various hotels and inns. For example, your first two nights will be spent at the White Waters, a modern family-run hotel in Machico’s Main Square, just 650 feet from the beach. For those who only want to unpack once and be accommodated outside the city center of Funchal, the 4-star option is the right choice. For those who like to move every couple of nights, the 3-star option suits you better.

Local Travel
Upon arrival to the Funchal Airport, you will be transferred to your first hotel. At the end of your tour, you will be transferred back to the airport.

The climate is mild all year long in Madeira! The sunniest period is from May to October.
