Throughout the day you will cycle through a region known as a land of storks. The White Stork truly deserves its place as Lithuanian's national bird. Along the way, there is an opportunity to stop in Švėkšna village to explore the estate with its beautiful park and the impressive neo-gothic church of St. Jacob the Apostle. Arrival in Šilutė, check-in, and optional dinner at the hotel and overnight in Šilutė.Accommodation: Gilija Hotel or similar
Day 4: Rusnė Island and Nemunas River Delta, 29 mi. (47 km)
This is a day to explore Šilutė with its 2,5 km long tree-lined main avenue which was largely spared from the mass Soviet demolitions that ravaged the Kaliningrad Oblast and the churches of Klaipėda. You can loop around and return via Rusnė Island, Lithuania's only island, located in the Nemunas River Delta Regional Parks. The Nemunas is home to 55 rare species of birds that use the wetlands for their breeding grounds and over 40 types of mammals also live in the park, making it one of the few thriving ecosystems unharmed by man. Standing on the bank of the Nemunas River in Rusnė, you can see the Russian oblast of Kaliningrad over just 100 meters across the river. En route, you can visit the Rusnė museum, the old water pumping station, and the 19th-century lighthouse in Uostadvaris Harbor. Optional dinner at hotel and overnight in Šilutė.Accommodation: Gilija Hotel or similar

The 19th-century lighthouse has a panoramic view of the unique landscape, including a glimpse of the glistening Curonian Spit sand dunes. One million birds pass through the station each migratory period. There is a boat crossing to the Curonian Lagoon to Nida. The hotel is a short bike ride away. Optional dinner at the hotel and overnight in Nida.Accommodation: Nerija 3-star or similar

Today is a free day to explore Nida which is a former fishermen's village on the Curonian Spit washed by the Baltic Sea on one side and the Curonian Lagoon on the other. Nida is the largest settlement in the Neringa Region and one of the most beautiful resorts in Lithuania. You can explore the impressive sand dunes on foot or on your cycle, as well as the other most popular places of interest-the Fisherman's House, the summer house of the famous German writer, Thomas Mann, and the Amber Gallery. Optional dinner at the hotel and overnight in Nida once again. If you prefer to have more cycling and experience something special, go for a return bike trip to the Russian part of the Curonian Spit where you can explore the Efa Dune (13 km from Nida), the Dancing Forest (18 km from Nida), Rybachy village with a nice lagoon view restaurant (22 km from Nida), etc. While in Russia, you could use your credit card for all payments, for example, a compulsory entrance fee to the Russian part of the Curonian Spit National Park (150 rubles/person = 2.15 Euros) and other services. Day 7: Nida - Juodkrantė - Klaipėda, 36 mi. (58 km)

Juodkrante is also a forming fishing village with the waters of the lagoon lapping along its shoreline providing a truly charming location for you to enjoy. Perhaps, weather permitting, you will be tempted at one of the golden sandy beaches to go swimming in the Baltic Sea or to saunter through the forests. Travel Documents
Before you travel, please check the passport and visa requirements of the country/countries you plan to visit. It is your responsibility to ensure that you have proper identification. For US citizens, the U.S. Passports & International Travel website is a good source of information. The Country Information tab provides details about passport validity, blank passport pages required, etc. It is important to research before you travel as airlines will not permit boarding if you do not have the required valid documents.
We recommend that you make copies of your important documents and papers (insurance cards, etc.). Leave a copy at home and have a copy with you. In the unfortunate situation that you lose your original documents, having copies facilitates the replacement process.
*Important note: Please check on the European Travel Information and Authorization System (ETIAS) status as once implemented, this will be required to visit any of the 26 Schengen-member countries for tourism, business, medical, or transit. This is an additional check on security rather than a visa
