Enjoy a full day to experience Prague independently. Whether exploring the cobbled streets of the Old Town, visiting Prague Castle and St. Vitus Cathedral, or spending time in one of the city’s traditional cafés, there are countless ways to discover the Czech capital. Your guide will be available to offer suggestions and local recommendations throughout the day. An included group dinner provides an opportunity to gather with fellow travellers before the journey continues into Germany.Day 3: Transfer to Bamberg & Embarkation
After breakfast, travel to Bamberg, one of Germany’s most distinctive historic cities and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. During a guided walk, discover highlights such as the Imperial Cathedral, the Bamberg Horseman, and the Old Town Hall, which stands on an island in the Regnitz River. Bamberg is also known for its centuries-old brewing traditions, including the region’s famous smoked beer. Later, board the barge IRIS and settle into your cabin before setting sail along the Main River. Dinner is served on board.Day 4: Hassfurt – Schweinfurt – Volkach
The first cycling day introduces the landscapes of Franconia. Choose between a route through the countryside to medieval Königsberg in Bayern or a gentler riverside ride following the Main. Both options pass vineyards, orchards, and traditional Franconian villages. After reaching Schweinfurt, return to the barge and continue by ship to Volkach, a town at the center of one of Germany’s best-known wine-producing regions.Day 5: Volkach – Kitzingen – Eibelstadt
Cycle through a landscape defined by vineyards and the Main River. A highlight of the day is Maria im Weingarten, a historic pilgrimage church overlooking the valley and home to works by the sculptor Tilman Riemenschneider. Continue to Kitzingen, known for its leaning Falterturm tower, before following the river through Ochsenfurt and Marktbreit. The day ends in Eibelstadt, a small wine town surrounded by vineyards.Day 6: Eibelstadt – Würzburg
A short ride leads to Würzburg, one of the most important historic cities in Franconia. Overlooking the river is Marienberg Fortress, while below, vineyards extend across the surrounding hillsides. Included today is a guided visit to the Würzburg Residence, a UNESCO World Heritage Site widely regarded as one of Europe’s finest Baroque palaces. The remainder of the day can be spent exploring the city, crossing the Old Main Bridge, or enjoying its lively atmosphere.Day 7: Karlstadt – Marktheidenfeld
Following a morning sailing section to Karlstadt, continue by bicycle through the Spessart region. This area is known for its forests, rolling countryside, and long association with hunting grounds and trade routes. The route passes through Lohr am Main, often linked to the origins of the Snow White story, before continuing through a series of riverside towns and villages to Marktheidenfeld.Day 8: Marktheidenfeld – Wertheim – Miltenberg
Today’s ride follows the Main River towards Miltenberg. Along the way, visit Wertheim, whose castle ruins overlook the meeting point of the Main and Tauber rivers. Miltenberg itself is one of Bavaria’s best-preserved medieval towns, with half-timbered buildings, narrow lanes, and a historic market square. The town is also home to the long-established Faust Brewery and the famous Zum Riesen inn, which has welcomed travellers since the 15th century.Day 9: Miltenberg – Aschaffenburg
The final cycling stage begins with a stop at Kloster Engelberg before continuing downstream towards Aschaffenburg. Along the route are several local landmarks, including the Chapel of St. Anna and the Beggars’ Tower. Before reaching the city, pass through Schönbusch Park, considered Germany’s oldest English-style landscape garden. In Aschaffenburg, the route concludes beneath the towers of Johannisburg Palace, one of the country’s most significant Renaissance buildings, with the nearby Pompejanum providing another notable landmark.Day 10: Departure from Aschaffenburg
After breakfast, disembark and begin your onward journey. Aschaffenburg is well connected by rail, with direct services to Frankfurt International Airport taking approximately 30–40 minutes. -
