Overview
Imagine a magical day trip to the magnificent Muir Woods combined with a spectacular visit to Sausalito. Then, make it even more unmissable with a photo opportunity by the Golden Gate Bridge and you’ve got an incredible itinerary to help you get the most out of the Golden City! With an optional ferry ride across the breathtaking bay, you can top your day trip off with a phenomenal finale.
Your magical tour kicks off from Mason Street when your mini-coach swings by the Hilton San Francisco to pick up its passengers. The adventure begins right here in the city, with your journey affording you stunning vistas of the icons of San Francisco, including the incredible Alcatraz Island, the sensational city skyline, and the beautiful, expansive bay. You’ll take the coastal mountain road into the Marin Headlands, allowing you a grand view of the majestic Mt. Tamalpais, the highest point in the North Bay region.
You’ll soon venture into the refreshing coolness of the canyon where you’ll find yourself surrounded by the colossal coastal redwood trees of the Muir Woods. The woods, named after the conservationist John Muir, gained federal protection from President Theodore Roosevelt after they were donated to the state by Senator William Kent in 1908.
An hour and a half is dedicated to an unforgettable wander along the wooden boardwalks that wind between these towering giants of nature - the tallest species of tree in the world. The coastal fog that blankets Northern California and Oregon during the summer months is what allows these enchanting redwoods to flourish in these specific regions, and Muir Woods stand as the only surviving zone of old-growth forest in the Bay Area.
Re-emerging from the awe-inspiring redwood region, you’ll reboard your mini-coach and set out towards Sausalito in Marin County, once a ship-building center in WWII and now an artistic haven known for its exquisite art galleries, farm-to-table restaurants, and rows of yachts and houseboats inhabited by residents looking to keep Sausalito’s maritime history alive.
Wandering around this city, you’ll be mesmerized by the elegant mansions on the hilltops which overlook streets lined by boutique shops and stylish cafes. Stroll along the picturesque pier and capture phenomenal photographs of the San Francisco skyline, Bay Bridge, and Angel Island. You’ll enjoy commentary on the coach ride and 45 minutes of leisure time to explore stunning Sausalito on foot.
Then, re-board the coach and return to the big city via the iconic Golden Gate Bridge, where your coach will stop for an unbeatable photo opportunity for your album back home. You’ll return to your hotel amazed, entranced, and utterly charmed by your immersive experiences in the Muir Woods and Sausalito.
