There’s no risk involved in this unrivaled underwater experience, just unforgettable hours of swimming and snorkeling in the majestic presence of one of the largest animals in the world!

Whale sharks - the world’s largest fish - are gentle creatures that grace the waters of the Caribbean Sea without posing a danger to adventurous swimmers, who can get up close and personal with these giant fish that don’t even have teeth!

You’ll embark on a boating expedition to the feeding grounds of the magnificent Whale Sharks, enjoying mesmerizing ocean views before putting on snorkeling gear (provided) and plunging into the crystal clear waters for your once-in-a-lifetime aquatic adventure.

Whale Sharks, which follow their food sources to Yucatan only during the months of June to September, feed by filtering tiny krill through their mouths, just like whales. You’ll find yourself completely at one with nature as you swim and dive around these spectacular creatures, hardly able to believe the scale and grace of these magnificent fish.

Back on the boat and a little lost for words at what you’ve just experienced, you’ll enjoy lunch with a view over lively Playa Norte, a picture-perfect white sand beach dotted with swaying palm trees and lined by joyful bars and restaurants. Once back on land, you’ll have some extra-special leisure time to spend swimming in the crystalline waters or sunbathing amidst a tropical paradise.

Cancellation policy
Each tour should be booked by paying a deposit.
- In case of cancellation more than 24 hours before the pickup, we do not charge you any cost and will give you back your deposit
- In case of cancellation between 24 and 12 hours before the pickup México Kan Tours will take your deposit in order to pay for the costs already made.
- In case of cancellation less than 12 hours before the pick up or in case of no show we will charge you 100% of the total amount of your tour.
Please be aware that this tour can be cancelled last minute for weather conditions reasons. If we have to cancel, we will offer alternatives or send a full refund.

This tour requires a minimum of 4 people to run the tour. If we do not hit this minimum, we reserve the right to cancel the tour, in which case we will contact you to offer an alternative tour or send a refund.
Health and safety policy
We recommend that clients bring:
- Bathing suit, sun glasses, hat, towel
- Comfortable clothes and shoes (sport sandals ok)
- Camera & binoculars
- Sun protection (you can put bio degradable sunscreen in your hotel, but the captains are very strict and will ask you not to put sunscreen on the boat. Please bring clothes to aid with sun protection)
- Some cash
Please note that there are no ATM machines in the area, nor do any of the vendors accept credit cards.
- The minimum age is 6 years old
- Tour is suitable for everybody who want to swim with the Whale Shark.
- Not for pregnant women.
- Great for a family day out or simply to get away from the busier Riviera Maya for something more off the beaten track.
- Please note there is a travel time of 2.5 hours from Tulum to Punta Sam.
- This tour involves a lot of time spent on a boat and the time spent looking for the whale shark can extend to 1h30. The experience is spectacular but is not recommended for people who are sensitive to sea sickness. Please bring Dramamine with you as we are not allowed to provide medication to our clients.
- The area is protected and the captains might not let you put sunscreen on. We hope you can understand and bring clothes to protect you from the sun.
