The tour Vienna Budapest was fantastic. The whole family was looking forward to starting the trip, as we had already taken the "Passau - Vienna" tour with Tripsite in 2014.
Every day on the bike was a family adventure, as the landscapes along the Danube are beautiful and there are many places to rest and contemplate God's creation. There are also castles, churches and historical sites that are important for learning about the local culture.
The hotels are excellent, with delicious breakfasts and are located in cozy cities. Their staff is always helpful.
In order to make the tour even better, on the last day (Estergom-Szentendre) between the first and second ferry boat, we suggest a replace route because the proposal one is very difficult to cycle. We turned back and took an alternative route, across a bridge.
The most memorable part of the tour is arriving in Budapest via the Danube, at the end of the day, by boat.

Biking along the Danube bend. Beautiful shaded path, interesting scenery. Catching last minute standing tickets to the Staatsopera in Vienna was amazing! Coming into Bratislava while a Trans-Danube Swim was occurring was a unique experience. Great meal at a hotel recommended restaurant (etterum) in Mosonmagyaróvár. The bikes were adequate for our 200 mile journey. I only wish I had a water bottle holder on mine.

Most of the paths were clearly marked and well travelled. Accommodations were nice and the breakfasts were good. Staff was quick to respond to any questions I had and were professional. I would recommend this tour to others.

The small towns we visited were awesome! Each one had their own flavor! We found great restaurants and quaint bars to visit every where we went. The company was VERY accommodating when we wanted to change our biking plan. I would highly recommend them! The GPS was easy to follow, we appreciated the food and site suggestions, and the hotels we stayed in along the way were top notch!

It was a great trip overall. We loved that part of the route also went inland a little through villages etc.
It would be great to have more lunch/food options marked on the maps and how to make sure they are open.
We also noticed that on the last bike day parting the route was over a blocked off and hard to ride dike so we were forced to find our way around via a main road.
It was well organized as nd we would do something similar again.

- It met our expectations. For less experienced bikers an e-bike would be a great option. I would recommend that people upgrade the bikes. The seats on the other bikes would not have been great.

Feedback:
1. The WhatsApp group were very good & followed up any issues or queries
2. The bike handover was a bit tricky as Simon had limited English & apart from bike matters didn’t seem fully versed in addressing some initial queries by someone that had never done a self guided bike tour
3. Inappropriate bike hire: the Agogs City Liner e-bike was ergonomically unsuitable for a bike tour of over 800km.
The seat angle & the handle bars meant I was very upright. It was uncomfortable.
A more appropriate style is that of a touring bike configuration, in which you are leaning forward and able to propel easily & with comfort.
4.Having 2 app’s - Ride GPS & Trip Plans a bit tedious to go in & out of for directions & guidance plus more draining on phone
5. An overnight in any large city is not enough time. A suggestion that 2 nights be factored into itinerary for say Vienna.

Klarà, our principal guide was awesome! She was always handy, solved all issues with a big smile on her face. Martin and Toni also very good but they left us in Vienna. Fine scenery, hotels, food, weather, etc...
Only one pitfall: we got other 2 guides after Vienna. One of them did not have a guide attitude, one example: the group that do not speak the local language was struggling to make the other in a restaurant and he was not helpful at all, he just got a beer for himself and walked out of the place. If you need more detail, please contact me.

Disappointed that twin beds werr not provided on several occasions and that we had to get that sorted. The quality of some hotels was also not greaT as in tiny room, inadequate facilities and as already said, not suitable for 2 individuals travelling together. I think you should upgrade the ebike option as well. A city style ebike for an 800 km ride is ridiculous, un comfortable and ineffecient. The luggage transfer was excellent and the navidation with RWGPS worked.

The ride was enjoyable. Easy to follow instructions and GPS. The hotels were very comfortable. My favorite was staying in the hotel that used to be a monastery. Thermal baths nearby, cute town and wonderful people. Even though we had some rain, to be expected in spring, the flowers were in bloom. Especially the red poppy's. The boat ride into Budapest gave you a wonderful panorama of thee city. Great trip overall

All of journey was gorgeous. in the beginning the routes are more steeps and when you reach Danúbio River the path is more flat. All of cities that you stay are super nice. Anyway, I loved all.

We really enjoyed this self guided tour. You are basically following the Danube or Donau, as the Germans refer to it, essentially downhill, making it fairly easy riding. The best part was riding with a group of curious friends. Poking our noses into things along the way and asking lots of questions made for a good travel experience. The bicycles we received were brand new and half of the group chose electric versions. All of the equipment worked well and the support team was responsive answering questions via cell along the way. We even got a first class detour around a road closure. Two vans transported us and our bicycles around a closed area along the river, thank you! There are a number of bicycle ferry crossings. This was really fun to load up the bikes and cross the river by boat. We also finished the trip on a short boat ride into Budapest. I would recommend this finish as you get to see all the bridges from the river coming into the city. Our accommodations were a good mix of private guest houses and hotels. Perhaps one suggestion, would be to have 2 nights in Vienna, since there is so much to see there. There is a lot to see in Budapest so we extended our visit there 3 more nights. Overall a very nice bike trip.

Bike paths were very good and enjoyable. This was the first bike trip for me and I felt safe. The company was very responsive to our inquiries along the paths. The scenery was beautiful and the villages and hotels along the way were very good. Breakfast included in every stop was very helpful.

The trip was fantastic and well worth doing - highly recommend. The cycle route was wonderful and the hotels were all great.
The paper maps, app and instructions for getting between towns were excellent and very detailed (with one exception, see below), but the instructions for navigating from the end of each day's route to your hotel for the night were not clear or sufficient, and on occasion, missing entirely. This unfortunately meant that after 2-3 hours of relaxed, lovely cycling through fields, castles, ruins etc, each day ended with 40 stressful minutes trying to find the hotel.
The first day's route gave an alternative option for anyone staying in Petronell-Carnuntum, rather than cycling all the way to Bad Deutch-Altenburg on the north side of the river and then 30min back to Carnuntum, an option was given of taking the ferry across the river at Orth an der Donau and then "following the cycle path to Carnuntum" - this advice was not sufficient, as there was no signposted cycle path on the south side of the river. I ended up catching a train to Carnuntum rather than cycle on a busy main road.
I was also given an incorrect time and date for the briefing session, and had to find my way to a different hotel in Vienna in order to attend a briefing session (it turned out all briefing sessions over a 2 day period had been wrongly communicated to all travellers, and the poor driver was having a very hard time of it).
Lastly, the tickets for the train and boat that I was issued were for incorrect dates, but I'm pleased to say that the company sorted this out very quickly and sent replacement tickets for the correct dates on to one of the hotels along my route, which was good service.
I liked the fact that both a map app and paper maps with detailed written instructions were provided, as the app drained my phone battery very quickly so it was good to have the paper maps and directions as well.
I would still recommend this trip very highly, but I hope that better directions to the hotels (and the alternative route on day 1) can be provided to future travellers.

The itenarary was very good. Unfortunately the heavy rains did some of the distances a bit difficult.
I must however point out that the bikes where not up to standard. On arrival several bikes where actually broken. If it had not been for our excellent Guide Victor, it may have been a disaster.

Budapest was the best city. Bratislava 2nd and Győr 3rd. The ride past Prinz Eugen’s hunting lodge (Schloß Hof), Bicycle Freedom’s Bridge and lunch at the Penny Coffea at the Slovakian side of the bridge (outstanding poached eggs on avocado bagels) and the ride past Devin Castle and the confluence of the Morova and Danube rivers was the nicest part of the ride.
The rest of the trip and the towns were very boring and monotonous. We had slippery mud in some sections of the trail with rain, and had to use the main roads. The train transfers went smoothly but did require carrying heavy bicycles up and down quite a few steps to reach the platforms.

The maps were more helpful than the written directions. All hotels were excellent, rooms, service and food. The bikes were quite heavy for the distances involved. The women did not like the seats, rubbed their lady parts the wrong way. Questions were answered quickly through What’s App. Inform riders than many restaurants in Europe are closed on Sundays. Have a map that shows where the hotel(s) are located. Considering the Danube flooding conditions, the staff responded quickly, but it would have been nice to be better informed each morning about changing conditions.

We enjoyed the whole experience! At the end of day 1 my wife said I could do this again - that didn’t change. Our group leaders (and support team) had to manage the impact of flooding and gave us a memorable experience - they couldn’t have tried harder. E-bikes made it accessible for less experienced or older riders but it still requires many hours in the saddle. Don’t expect to lose much weight as the food was plentiful and excellent. The WhatsApp group created for us made it easy to keep in contact. We are so pleased to have picked this tour!

Our cycling trip was marred by inclimate weather which cut the tour short due to flooding of the Danube. Because of the detours that were forced upon us we got to see some of the national forest (although we had to clime over downed trees to get through.

The weather wreaked havoc on the trip - with highly unusual rainfall inundation and wind conditions in Austria and Slovakia. The subsequent flooding affected the routes and led to the tour company cancelling 2/3 of the trip. The local tour company struggled to manage communication with everyone. We were booked into a different hotel for the 2nd night and not provided with directions to this hotel. Budapest was lovely and we had great weather there, but we did not experience most of the bike route.

Make sure you don't get booked on s boat as a hotel, dirty and bugs. They say gravel bikes but they are not. They do not send a mechanic to set up bike, just a tour guide who knows nothing. Bike was dirty and needed oiling. They said safety checked but found issues when given the bike. If traveling in pairs they only give you one copy even though you paid full price for both. They also only give one lock when we were told each would get one. Printed map and instructions not accurate. No instructions to specific hotels. Breakfast and luggage pick up times do not align.

We were looking forward to enjoying this well-planned out trip, mostly on well-maintained cycle paths, but the weather had different ideas! All started out great in Vienna on a warm and sunny day. Our hotel in Vienna was pleasant and the trip guide / Austrian partner, was very helpful and patient with the many travelers needing his guidance. But then Storm Boris hit with torrential rains and strong winds! We struggled through mostly wet and rainy days. However, we got great support in changing out our bikes, due to mechanical and ergonomic issues when we arrived in Bratislava. There certainly were some very enjoyable moments, especially the hotels and food (we chose the half board option) but we cut our riding short on the fifth day to avoid additional days of rain and cooler temperatures. The local partner helped us with securing a hotel in Budapest a day early and with a train ticket from Komarom to Budapest. We know that our trip would have been totally amazing had the weather cooperated! There was no way to predict the unexpected 10-year deluge in Central and Eastern Europe.

Cycling along the Danube and entering small villages as we cycled. It felt very “intimate” like we were part of the life of the village.

While to bike, the GPS app, and the lodgings were all good, this trip had problems. First, I was routed to the wrong city/hotel on the first day. My trip itinerary and my GPS instructions put me in the wrong city so I had to ride additional miles to get to where my luggage was located. Very poor but doable. My main complaint is about the lack of communication from the local on the ground operator. My bike, while good, had an issue with the seat slowing lowering so every 30 minutes or so I would have to raise it back up. I called the company and was told someone would call me back, they didn't. I called again and was told that they would contact someone to come and look at the bike and that they would call back in a couple of minutes, they didn't. I called again and received the same response and the same result of not calling back. They are open until 8pm so at 7:45pm I called yet again and this time there was no answer and no way to leave a message. They did call back the next day and send me a list of bike shops in my next city. I was told to have the repair made, send them the receipt, and I would be reimbursed they were vague on how I was going to be reimbursed. I decided to stay with readjusting my seat every 30 minutes because I lost all confidence in them.
I will say that Rebecca from TripSite was excellent. I called her after the no answer phone call. She followed up with me later that day as well as the next day and patiently listened to my story. Thanks Rebecca!

Misunderstanding on inclusion of meals at the hotels other than Vienna, Bratislava, & Budapest. We specified that we’d like them included and they were not. We were able to find restaurants, but obviously that increased the cost for us.
