Netherlands, France
From a transport barge, to a WWII landing craft, from the bottom of a river to an 8-passenger "hotel" boat, the Adagio, now begins her new life as a luxury vessel under new management!
Overview
What a find and what a history! For over 30 years, this magnificent ship has been plying the waterways of Europe from Holland to France and Belgium to Germany. The Adagio actually dates back to 1932 when she was built as a transport barge in the Belgian estuaries. During World War II, the bow was replaced with a landing bow to enable the barge to navigate directly to the beaches to transport supplies and troops. Though the ship was sunk during the war, it was later lifted from the river bottom and completely refurbished.
In 1975, the barge was brought to Holland and converted into an elegant three-decked hotel boat, providing memories of a lifetime to countless guests.
In 2020, she was completely rebuilt once again to the highest standards to begin her new life, providing cultural and bike and boat tours in Holland and France.
Each of the four staterooms is decorated with a unique style reflecting the owners' love of art, color, and light. The private bathrooms are large and elegant. Nespresso coffee machines, bathrobes, and fine toiletries are just some of the little touches that add up to create this exclusive experience.
Lounge on one of the two spacious sundecks sipping a delightful French wine or go aft to the bar and lounge, a favorite gathering place for all to talk about the experiences and adventures of the day.
Internet, bikes, air-conditioned transfer and support vehicle, and a professional and welcoming crew, add to the abundance of offerings aboard this truly unique barge.
