Salzburg & the 7 Lakes Tour Reviews — 1 to 3 of 3
Easy–Moderate Bike Tour in Austria
Your bike tour in Austria will be in the region of Salzkammergut (Lake District) situated snugly at the foothills of the Northern Alps. It is a masterpiece of majestic mountains and mystic blue lakes…

Local hotel staff was excellent at the Wyndham in Salzburg, ensuring that we got our room and also printed off the package that was supposed to have been left for us (vouchers). The next day we went to pick up our bikes…’sorry, your tour starts tomorrow’ , oh, today IS the 25th. Fortunately, bikes were found for us.
Off we trundled with minimal guidance from the mapping app…thank goodness one of our group had a European SIM card, so Google maps was a bit more helpful. It would be nice if the maps & book (that WE didn’t get) told us which bike path to follow clearly. We figured out we were basically following the R2…until we weren’t…
The hotels were generally great, if a bit off the beaten path. So, no wandering about in the towns after we had our Read More showers and got ourselves changed.
Meals, both dinners and breakfasts, were tasty and ample. Most of the hotels could use some decent pillows; they were either flat or lumpy.
Sorry, while I enjoyed the trek, I think Pack-n-Pedal let us down on this trip. I don’t believe I will use them again. Some minor offer of compensation for the stress they caused us would have been welcome.

Just came back from an exceptional Salzburg Lakes holiday.
I'll start with the good - fantastic scenery (so green), friendly well-appointed hotels, not too difficult route (a few hills from time to time but appropriate for the "easy to moderate" level, well sign-posted. Even the continuous rain on the first day didn't dampen our spirits.
This was my second time with "Tripsite" (went to Provence, France two years ago) and I feel compelled to add a few negative comments by comparison. Most of the maps and brochures were in German and not English. The quality of the bikes was less than expected. Far worse was the comedy of errors on the bike handover - no saddle bags, no repair kit, no pump, no apology. We only got the missing equipment at the end of the first day of riding. My thanks to the Tripsite Team, who did their best to intervene on our behalf.
In conclusion - don't let the negative comments stop you from booking this trip. I would however recommend to Tripsite to have a serious word with their local agents to prevent such mistakes in the future. And, yes, I'm already planning the next trip !!

Neil - Thanks so much for leaving your feedback. Our local bike supplier definitely let us down. We've decided to use another supplier for this tour so (hopefully) this mix-up with the bikes never happens again.
Look forward to working with you again!!

The Austrian people are friendly, helpful, and accommodating. We enjoyed the food, the scenery, the various communities, and the cycling. An awesome time.
If you do the trip, make sure to upgrade to the 4-star hotels. They are excellent, especially, the Holiday Inn in Salzburg, and the hotel in Mondsee. Both the service and support were superb.
There is a lot to see, experience, and take in. The cycling is challenging but fun. You traverse some nice locations with minimal road usage.
We will be back.
