We just got home from our bike & barge trip. My husband & I had an amazing time, the crew was fantastic.
Xander our Captain was great, Gerrit was a fantastic chef and fed us well, Kitty our bike guide did a great job and took care of us and gave us a great experience while biking, touring the sites! Kitty is top notch and truly cared for us all. Petra & Sarah were also ready to help in any situation necessary. The whole crew saw us off each morning and greeting us at the end of each day, So very nice! The whole experience was great.
My husband had a non e-bike and the bike he had didn’t shift well it was very slow. We thought all the seats were very uncomfortable almost everyone else thought the same thing.

The whole trip was laid out oerfectly. Staff was great especially our guide Alice!

The Boat was great. the crew made the experience exceptional. The food was fantastic and our guides made the trip.

Exceptional in every way—the boat, the bike rides, the islands, the history, the food, the people, our guides and crew.

The tactile tourism that a small group bike tour allows - we had experiences with locals/natives in small villages that were authentic and provided insight into the Greek and Saronic Island culture.

The Thalassa is a beautiful ship with a very hardworking crew. I found the cabin sufficient, although, not perfect. Fit and finish in both the water closet and the stateroom was not perfect. Toilet had a non-functioning bidet feature and insufficient hot water supply in the showers.

I had paid the dietary surcharge for my egg intolerance and shell fish allergy. The tour company and the ship's crew were not prepared for this. I am not sure what I paid extra for, as it doesn't seem that the supplemental charge actually gets to those doing the work. Once the crew was aware, I was informed what was within my dietary needs. I made the decision to not request all dishes replicated, but rather wanting a main course and a dessert available.

Although food was good and plentiful, it felt somewhat excessive. The cuts of meat were good, but not high grade. Quality was supplemented with quantity. Now, I appreciate that there were 2 very solid meals, but at times we were served a whole fish and felt wasteful. Again, this could be summed up as Greek hospitality.

I enjoyed the trip, and especially our guides. Their youthful and fun disposition was welcomed. Our rides were so fun and fabulously guided. Despoina was a energic understudy to Chryssa, an expert guide. A highlight was Despoina's ability to connect authentically and passionately with passengers and locals alike. Chryssa provided a personable experience for me, as a gay man, offering suggestions for bars.

Lastly, a point of challenge for our group was gratuities. This trip was much more expensive than the barge trips other group members have been on. I tipped the full 10% for the trip. Others were closer to 5%. I think what was unclear is if this higher expense trip and their crew expected and required the full 10% tip... and how to divide that between ships crew and the guides.

Overall, the trip was quite lovely. We enjoyed the company on the trip. Our guide was great and so was our captain and crew however, we were 24 people. We were surprised that there was not a second guide in the back rather relying on one of the passengers to assume I think a responsibility that would supersede that as of a guest, we had several people fall on the bikes and I think that is a liability to your company The sweep should have had a way of communicating to our leader by walkie-talkie or some other type of communication as well as a mirror to see what was coming behind us to prepare all of us with verbiage we were taught to use on the trail This was billed as a tulip tour, but it was not apparent that we would not be seeing tulips and it was a situation where we think we should have been told that before, as we were billed in this trip for prime season tulip viewing. It was not until the next to the last day that we saw fields of tulips other than the garden we visited, which was spectacular.
I also think the rooms should be upgraded a little bit with something

Booking agent (Kirsten) was fabulous, guides and staff, fantastic and knowledgeable of all areas. Food was great, cabins, clean and good size. Bikes were in excellent condition. Loved the scenery, stops along the way — castle, gardens…
Guided walks in several locations at night after dinner was also a nice feature.

Scenery was unique and beautiful along canals, tulips were a highlight as well as other unique stops. Boat and crew were accommodating and helpful we were glad we had e-bikes as It made the trip more enjoyable. Cycling was sometimes challenging in cities and traffic crossings. Boat was good, Rooms are small and beds are low to ground. Food was very good.

Feedback on our Boat & Bike Trip with Clair de Lune | April 2026

Dear Team Clair de Lune,

We have just returned from our boat & bike trip with Clair de Lune and wanted to share our experience.

The highlights were excellent:
The back roads chosen by our delightful Dutch guide, Patrick, were superb. His local knowledge and friendly approach made every ride a joy.
The bikes were of excellent quality, though a bit heavy for two of our friends.
And the tulip fields were as stunning as promised — truly unforgettable.

A few points that would make the service even better:

Arrival signage: There was no Clair de Lune sign board upon arrival at the port, which made finding our boat surprisingly difficult. Clear signage would be a big help for guests arriving with luggage, sometimes straight from the airport.

Welcome lunch: We were expected on board at 12:30, yet no lunch was served. Suggesting guests bring their own lunch is not practical when they are already managing bags and travel. Welcoming guests with a light, healthy salad and cold cuts would set a much better tone for the trip.

Galley atmosphere: Our German cook had what I’d call a “German sense of humor” — rather difficult to find funny — but to his credit, he did put together very nice meals.

Departure experience: On our last day, we were scheduled to disembark by 10:00. At 9:00, several staff came on board to clean and we were made to feel as though we were disturbing them. Thankfully, with our guide Patrick’s support, they understood we were entitled to stay until 10:00 undisturbed. Nevertheless, it broke the magic of our goodbyes to the gentle Captain Henk, the sturdy cook Cris, and the not-so-smiling crew member Joana.

Overall, it was a wonderful trip. With a few adjustments to arrival, boarding, and departure, Clair de Lune could deliver a truly flawless experience.

The tulip fields , the Dur’tch villages were the highlight of this wonderful trip. However a few adhustlents could ve made. Upon arrivai some light meal would be welcome. The Cook Chris could be more flexible in his atitude but the meals were excellent . Upon departure which was fixed at ten, a team of cleaner rushed on the boat at nine showing clear’y that we disturbing them with an unpleasent atitude.Tanks to our guide Patrick who conducted us in a very nice, eficient way, the problem has been clarified but left some unpleasanr feeling.

Ed, our biking guide, took us on walking trips through the towns nightly. He was great.

The weather was a bit chilly, but the scenery more than made up for it.

The crew worked well together.

Keukenhof is always a favorite. This is my second visit there, but loved it just as much the second time.

Another highlight was getting to know the friendly staff on the boat. They were so nice to us.

We had a wonderful time for a first bike and barge. Would highly recommend this trip.
The staff were incredible and of course the biking. For couple of days there was strong head winds so had the work really hard as we had regular bikes..well worth the effort and sense of accomplishment at the end of the day.

My most memorable part of the trip was the honor of going with Hennie. We had a fabulous time together and I especially enjoyed visiting her family and learn about where she grew up in Barneveld. Thank you for inviting me on this amazing trip.

2 things that were the highlights for me was first, sailing on a 4 mask sail boat. What an experience. Second was our day spent at Keukenhof tulip gardens. Spectacular!

The food was 5-star quality! Great chefs!
Ship was immaculate and comfortable.
Weather was great and no tourists in the islands except for us! Great time of year.
I would have liked more historical commentary on the rides. The local guide tours were just okay. I thought the wine prices on the boat were a bit high for local wines($40+). Service and crew were very professional and pleasant. I have done several of these type of trips all over the world. Boating and biking is a great combo. Overall a very positive experience!

Sailing was fun, tulips were amazing. I really enjoyed Texel and the towns on the island. Our host was perfect. She had a story for everywhere we stopped.

We hit the tulip season perfectly mid April and the weather cooperated with sunny, cool days. Phew. The tour guides were friendly and informative and the cycling routes were carefully chosen on smooth, easy bike paths outside city centers. The flowers were absolutely amazing and their beauty impossible to describe or capture in photographs. The Magnifique IV was quite elegant, very clean and comfortable. The service and hospitality were impressive and the food delicious. I highly recommend this trip to cyclists of all levels. Thank you, Tripsite!

This trip was spectacular, in all respects. The boat was beautiful and very well maintained. The crew friendly, efficient and helpful. The food was delicious and plentiful. The bikes were great, well maintained. Our guides, Eddie and Bubi, were wonderful. Funny, entertaining, knowledgeable and very much attuned to the group dynamic. Great group of guests. All in adequate shape. We all rode at our own pace. Some speedsters, but others enjoying the spectacular scenery of each island. Guides made us all comfortable with whatever speed we chose to ride. All in all, this trip is a great value for the money!

Carla did an amazing job organizing our trip. The transfers were smooth, we had a group of eight couples and she communicated beautifully with everyone. We loved the ship we loved our guides Esther and Jack. The itinerary was excellent.

The trip allowed an unique experience and view of Netherlands, through beautiful small bike paths and the opportunity to visit historical villages, profit from the natural beauty of the countryside, with the magnificent tulips being the high point. The boat crew was excellent, with good service, excellent food and a very nice guide.

The great guides we had. both very knowledgeable of the area. The food was also very good. Chef excellent.

Great experience overall. Biking, guides, Captain and crew, shipmates!
