· Paradise in Portugal

This trip was excellent overall. Tripsite was easy to work with ahead of the tour and then, even though we were self-guide, the tour operator was communicative, hands-on, and all their staff were friendly and helpful.

The app they use for directions is excellent, and even in the intricate streets of rural Portugal, we were able to easily find our way and knew within a couple minutes when we were off track. This also made it easier to find points of interest because they were clearly marked in the app. The points of interest were good and were a mix of "look at this" (roman ruins, churches, etc) and "get a tour here" (cork factory, several wineries, etc). If you are self-guided, the tour operator will help you book reservations for tours once you get there, but we missed a few because they needed to be booked more than a week in advance and we didn't know that. As soon as you get access to the app, take a look at what you want to do and either contact them yourself or ask the tour operator to book them. Some days only have a couple viewpoints/tours, and if they are both closed or not booked it could be disappointing.

The cycling was generally pretty flat. I've seen other reviews that there is a lot of climbing, we didn't find that. There are some long uphills, but the longest of these was clearly mentioned in the app before we started up to that point of interest. The bigger challenge for us was the routes that aren't asphalt - I think every route had us on gravel for several sections and sometimes it was quite sandy or rutted. The most difficult section we biked was marked as an "alternate more adventurous path", so we expected it. If you're worried about the hills, I would suggest an e-bike, although I did it with a normal bike.

The bikes were in excellent condition. We were provided with everything we needed - water bottles, repair kit, handlebar phone holders, chargers for e-bikes, and a bike jersey.

The dinners at the farmhouse were excellent. They were home-made and rich at the same time and are a highlight of the trip. The rooms are well appointed, and although the building is old, it worked very well for us once we realized you have to run the shower for 5 minutes to get hot water.

How did the difficulty level compare to your expectations?
I was expecting more (and steeper) hills on asphalt and a bit less gravel/sand. However, as a moderate rating, it is well rated and other reviews helped with my expectations.

The trip was excellent. Starting with our local host Bernardo who explained everything clearly (the best we’ve had on any tour), to the brand new e-bikes and accessories, the fabulous accommodation (which was a highlight of the tour) right through to perfect weather, all went well.

The trip was great. All of the itinerary was wonderful places to visit. The hotels and baggage management on the first three days was four-star.
The boat was very nice and we enjoyed it even more than the larger boat on The Danube trip. The food was amazing and Albert & Danny deserve a shout-out. Our guides Micaela and Ricardo were great guides, though Micaela could’ve slowed the pace some for us “push-bike” riders.
We loved the trip and will definitely be back. Thinking Spain/Portugal will be our next one.

Bernardo and Sonia were both fantastic. Bernardo created great routes each day with coffee stops in towns where we could explore a bit. Sonia made extraordinary picnics each day. The dinner venues, cuisine, and service were extraordinary. They both anticipated our needs and catered to every request. It was the best bicycle tour I have experienced!

The local team in Porto did an excellent job. My ebike had two flat tires during the first hour, before we lever left the city. but they switched out the bike and the remaining 6 days of riding the bike was perfect! The navigation through the app - Ride GPS was flawless. Two of the hotels were beyond amazing, all the others were perfectly fine. The logistics of the airport pickup, luggage transfers, hotel reservations and transportation back to Porto all went off without a hitch. The only suggestion that I might make in terms of route is if a group is NOT staying in Vigo having the route go right though downtown which we hit during lunchtime rush seemed unnecessary, confusing and long.

It was perfect. We are cyclists at home and the distance each day was perfect, but then we used EBikes! The mileage would have been too much with out power though. It was well worth the extra cost for using the EBikes!

· Porto to Lisbon

This tour exceeded our expectations. We had completed the North Portugal tour 3 days earlier, resting in Porto, then jumped back on the bikes for this tour to Lisbon.
The route was a great balance of coastal areas & through nature parks. The hotels were a mix of boutique & larger premises.
Recommend using e-bikes to enhance the touring experience, & add an additional night at day 3 or 4 to freshen up with a light day.

· Porto to Lisbon

Our Porto to Lisbon self-guided cycling tour was absolutely incredible. The scenery, accommodation and the Portuguese people were fantastic.
Dianna the receptionist in Porto did a great job of going through everything before we started. This was last minute for her due to the person who was meant to do it not showing up.
We were given a Garmin for the navigation, but the GPS app we found easier to use on our phones.
Our one ask is that some information and times be updated. A major bridge was closed to cyclists, so we had to turn around to get a ferry. Unfortunately, the ferry crossing time was different to the information we had been given.
That said this was a fantastic trip. Easy, mostly flat riding. Watch out for those Portuguese drivers when on the open roads though.

The coast trail was flatter than we expected. Probably did not need bikes for most of the trip. Only a couple of major hills.

Sergio and Miguel, our knowledgeable and experienced tour guides, worked to make this journey the most memorable experience in our lives. This was our first guided tour and it certainly will not be our last one that we schedule with Tripsite. No words could adequately explain the beauty, landscape, architecture, food, history, and the people we met in Portugal and Spain. The cycling every day presented challenges with the headwind one day and the rain on another day, which made the adventure more challenging and rewarding, too. Every detail is taken care of from the bike fitting to the snacks at each stop to the magnificent hotels and restaurant options. We were taken care of with all of the support needed for an awesome trip. Don’t hesitate to reserve your chance for a one of kind experience. Thank you, Sergio, Miguel, and Philipe (transportation).

· Basque Country to Asturias

We had an excellent tour across the top of “Green Spain”, more or less following the Camino. We were somewhat worried about daily elevation gains but it turned out to be undulating hills rather than really long slogs. Glad for my e-bike though. Route was well devised and the couple of times we tried to deviate, we found out just why it was routed that way. There were a couple of ferry adventures which were fun, and we were glad the rep had explained them in advance.
Hotels were good and breakfasts were excellent. Even in late September, we were able to find decent restaurant options most evenings. Really enjoyed it.

· Granada to the Sea - Discover Andalusia

We loved the scenery and the towns along the way equally with the towns where we overnighted. Including the hike at El Chorro was a nice detail to add to the trip. The hotel at Ronda was wonderful; the view from our massive balcony was spectacular. An agent, Jorge, was assigned to our self-guided trip; he executed his job with professionalism and kindness. He texted each day and offered us tips and baled me out on 2 specific instances: 1. Day 4 was too tough for so he provided me a ride. 2. I broke my arm near the end of the last day (freak accident). Jorge adjusted the bike pick up location and ensured my care was complete. I only gave 4 stars because the moderate rating was too low in my opinion. I have used tripsite many times and have grown accustomed to the ratings. I feel this was a moderate-hard. Knowing that I would not have signed up for the trip.

· Amsterdam to Bruges Bike Tour

Just an absolutely fun filled 7 days. Loved being on our own, just taking our time and figuring out what went wrong and where we went wrong haha. Never really got lost and always felt safe. Plenty of time to complete the days journey which always ended with a brew in some cute little bar sharing a laugh of our days experiences. The accommodations were very comfortable and LOVED the staff, as well all the bikers were just fun to be around. Credit to Peter for his daily recaps and “what is on for tomorrow, what you can see along the way”. He also had these fun little games that made everyone laugh and connect, good job, Peter. I enjoyed everyday for sure but I will say the trip to the North Sea was a huge surprise and delight for me. I have always lived in Atlantic Canada where you always enjoy MANY amazing beautiful beaches, but that beautiful day at the North Sea was for me spectacular. What a beautiful beach and a day to match. My thoughts were “perfect ending to a perfect week”.

  • The horse picture was taken our a new friend from our boat group but I has to share it because it just says it all about beauty and size of this beautiful beach. (photo by Josephine g.)

· Southern France Canal du Midi Bike Tour

Most memorable was the 2 night stay in Carcasseronne, France. We opted for a Rest Day and did not do the scheduled In & Out Ride.
Upgrading to Deluxe accommodations was a really great value.
The 'Rails to Trails' In & Out route to Mirepoix, France was a great alternate from the towpath. Consider providing tours linking these well maintained trails. This one went way beyond Mirepoix. Other riders said there were many in Spain.
The condition of the tow path varied with the cities (Carcasserronne, Baziers and Narbonne having the worst maintenance (except in town)) and the long remote area between Baziers and Agde. Toulouse and surrounds were well maintained.
30 gear bicycle upgrades were a must for my group of 70 something year old men. My eBike was sturdier than other rentals I have had and it's Bosch drivetrain performed as well as my own.
There was miscommunication somewhere for our stay in Mirepoix. The manager showed us the reservation requesting two double rooms, but there was no mention of 2 beds in the two rooms. The hotel was full and only one of the rooms had two beds. He was able to book the two men in a nearby hotel.
Throughout the entire reservation process I found TripSIte to be professional and easy to work with with excellent communication and advice. One thing, the vests were fit larger than indicated size...
Thank you so much,
John J Kaib

· Romantic Road & the Bavarian Lakes

Our family had an unforgettable experience cycling from Wurzburg to Füssen, covering around 450 km along the stunning Romantic Straße. Each day was a new adventure, filled with charming towns, fairytale castles, rolling vineyards, and warm, welcoming locals who made the journey even more special.
One of the highlights was our pre-booked Night Watchman’s Tour in Rothenburg ob der Tauber, a magical and entertaining way to explore the town’s medieval history. We also visited many fascinating museums along the route which became some of our favorite moments, offering rich cultural insights.
We loved stopping at local markets to enjoy delicious wine, sausages, and cheese for lunch. A surprise gem was discovering a serene mineral pool where we could relax and swim, such a treat after a day of riding!
The bikes provided were top-notch, handling every terrain with ease and comfort. Tripsite took care of all the logistics, hotel bookings, luggage transfers so we could focus entirely on enjoying the ride. With perfect weather and great company, the trip was smooth, stress-free, and full of joy!
We wholeheartedly recommend Tripsite for anyone planning a cycling adventure. Their exceptional organization and attention to detail make it easy to book a scenic, stress-free, and unforgettable family journey through Germany.

· Premium Guided Bike Tour in Provence

All parts of the trip exceeded our expectations. The hotels were lovely, the meals absolutely delicious, and the areas we rode through were beautiful. Our guide, Antonio, was calm, cool, and collected the entire time even while riding with the group on busy streets. We had a group of 8 on our tour, and Antonio quickly became one of our friends. He is a very kind person and handled all aspects of the tour extremely smoothly. One small improvement would have been to receive a little more information about some of the small villages and sites we visited along the way. I definitely am recommending Tripsite to friends and family.

My wife and I did this ride for our 50th anniversary. We enjoyed everything about it although, I must admit, it took a day or two to get use to the bicycles which are not ideal. The routes are unbelievable. Never having been in a bicycle centered country it was a revelation. The hotels were good to very good and the GUIBO was easy to use. We had only one day of significant headwinds but others have suggested to do the trip in reverse if winds are a problem for you. In short, a great trip that I would do again. I will certainly look to do another trip with Tripsite.

How did the difficulty level compare to your expectations?
We had to avoid riding the gravel/ dirt sections for 2 or 3 days of the tour due to wet and muddy conditions so we were very happy there was an alternative route available on pavement. We were self guided. Some of the dirt/ gravel sections were more technical than I expected, but short enough that one could walk if needed. I think maybe it should be rated easy to moderate. I ride a lot of gravel and MTB at home and wouldn’t recommend this route to riders who aren’t experienced with riding on gravel.

This was our 2nd self-guided bike tour in Europe. It was a little different than our first where everyone leaving from our hotel was on the same schedule. With this company, you are basically customizing your tour by chosing to stay extra nights in some cities. The route chosen by the local company was qood. We had a variety of small villages and towns, crop fields and forrests. Lodging in the Category B hotels was good to excellent. The cycle paths were very good most of the time with little mixing with cars. We did this in Sept and it seemed alot of restaurants/cafes along the route were closed, so you might bring a lunch with you. The bikes were good, but do not have mirrors, which I had inquired ahead about. We did bring our own.

· Bolzano to Venice

Biking from Bolzano to Trento surrounded by mountains and scenery was memorable.
The extra days in Bolzano were well worth it. Lots to do with gondola rides and hikes to wineries.
The bike app worked pretty well, although some instruction was either confusing or a bit late.
Unfortunately we were kicked off the ferry ride on Lake Garda with bikes due to transportation strikes so had to take a van. We missed some scenery, but also had a faster trip to Pescheira.
We got caught in quite a downpour one day and the next day was looking stormy also, so we took a train.
Easy getting train tickets, harder getting spots on the train for bikes. We got the last.
Venice was nice, but naturally crowded. Hotels were mostly nice accommodations. Hotel staffs were pleasant and helpful. Hotel Majestic seems to go by different names and was initially difficult to find.
We enjoyed the self-guided bike tour, even though we didn't use E-bikes.
