I recently had the pleasure of staying onboard the Magnifique II and it was an unforgettable experience. From the moment I arrived, the staff went above and beyond to ensure my comfort and satisfaction. The luxurious accommodation, coupled with exceptional service, made my stay truly memorable! Welcoming atmosphere and attentive staff made me feel right at home :)
Riding through the magnificent biking paths was another highlights of the entire adventure.
Food was also distinctive. I LOVED everything about the tour! Thanks to Tripsite for making this tour happen!

Guided evening walks through some less touristy medieval towns, including Dordrecht and Schoonhoven, gave us a more personal experience of the guild houses and legends of centuries ago. Be open-minded to making new friends and make sure you carry a few euros with you as restroom facilities can come at a small price.

An amazing tour through historical towns, villages and countryside. I loved the wide open spaces but the forests were something else too - really magical at this time of year - and all on really well-maintained cycle paths. The places we visited were beautiful by day when exploring the history, but some of the towns we stopped at also came alive at night for those venturing out - there was definitely something for everyone.

We stayed on the Magnifique II which was definitely magnifique! The boat was very well laid out for socialising and dining with more than enough room to have time to yourself as well on the back deck or upper deck. The food was absolutely amazing and varied each day, and the team onboard were very friendly and helpful. All dietary requirements were catered for. The bikes were also well-serviced and easy to ride.

The cabins were cosy with very comfy beds and an en-suite which is all I needed at the end of a long day. Personally I spent more time in the dining/sitting area (and occasionally in the hot tub on the top deck!) than my cabin, but there were suites available too for those that want to book more space to themselves.

Our tour guides for the trip were very knowledgeable, friendly and fun to talk to. If I'm back in Europe on a trip I'd love to have guides like them again.

The other people I met onboard on this trip made it something really special too - thank you all for a wonderful experience.

This was my first trip to the Netherlands, and it didn't disappoint. Our cycling route took us through scenic farmlands, forests, and quaint Hanseatic villages. The cycling paths were well maintained and the e-bike (the first time I have ridden one) made cycling even easier than anticipated. This tour, however, wouldn't have been the same without our fantastic cycling guides Tom and Hans. They were simply fantastic and made the tour so much fun. Together with the top-notch crew aboard the Magnifique II, the delicious and well-prepared meals, and the clean and welcoming cabins, the experience was one I will not forget. I would highly recommend this tour!

It was an excellent tour. It was a beautiful boat and the 3 staff were family comprising of the Captain,the chef and the onboard person who worked tirelessly to ensure we had the best trip. They were all wonderful and the food was sensational. Our guide Jochin was brilliant. He had a gentle manner and a good communicator. His knowledge of all the places we went to was excellent and he planned our daily trips with care and thoughtfulness. Nothing was too much trouble. It was a good group and a great bond between clients and staff.

Biking and boating into Germany, Luxembourg and France was spectacular. Seeing the incredible vineyards and tasting the wines from this area. Our stay and the crew on the Magnafique 1 was excellent and we hope to book another tour.

The boat and crew were fantastic. The bikes were the best we have experienced so far doing these kinds of trips. Some wonderful excursions and side trips while biking . A few things could be improved upon I think. We all arrived (group of 10) in Mantova and ended up dragging our luggage through town (on sometimes very cobblestone bumpy streets) to get to the boat. Have heard this happens a lot. Taxi/uber service is kind of non-existent. For any older travelers the option of dragging luggage would not be realistic. Something need to be set up for customer pickups. Also, I know from talking to the tour guides that the amount of time we get to spend in Ferrara is an issue. It's a wonderful city and we were in and out much too quickly. Not sure there is an answer to this. Overall an amazing trip with a crew that seemed to be having as much fun as we were.

The crew were amazing how they worked together and made everything flawless.

Although the weather wasn't always the most cooperative, the biking along the Moselle offered beautiful scenery of steep hillside vineyards with stops in small towns along the way. Our tour guides were fantastic and easily (or so it seemed) adapted to the route changes that needed to be made due to the flooding of the Moselle and the fact that the bike paths weren't always accessible. Our guides were knowledgable about the areas we visited and offered interesting information about castles, churches and other areas of interest in the cities.
As far as tips for others, if you are planning a bike/barge trip, be prepared for varied weather and biking conditions. Being flexible will allow you to enjoy things that aren't necessarily what you had expected.

The Merlijn is the best sailing ship in all of Europe if you want to bike. The captains Coen and Cristina (also the ship owners) are just wonderful people. I feel like family every time I travel with them and this was my 8th trip with them (7 trips in the last year alone). So if you want 5 star accommodations, service and meals, this is the ship to sail on. Their bikes are the best out there and I feel confident in saying that as I have done 15 bike and barge trips! Give the Merlijn a try and you will be hooked like I am. The Merlijn also gets the best bike guides out there along with extremely friendly and caring crew. Love the Merlijn and Coen and Cristina.

The North Holland bike and barge trip in Oct was very memorable! Beautiful scenic rides thru villages, seaports, sand dunes and more.
Although Holland is flat as a pancake, the ebike was very helpful on windy days and those 25+ mile routes. The Holland bike trail system is amazing and drivers are so safety oriented compared to Americans. Such a joy!
The barge and room was very comfortable. My favorite part was relaxing on the upper deck and watching the pilot navigate the De Willemstad carefully thru the locks and under bridges.

Our routine of evening trail orientation, breakfast (and pack lunch), ride and sightseeing, back for drink and dinner, was very enjoyable! Everything except the food was 5 star.

Packing a small thermos might be helpful for some riders who would like some tea or a warm drink if they tend to get cold. Padded bike shorts important.

Our guides were helpful and fun! They even offered walking tours thru some of the towns.

The Dutch are very warm and kind people!! Can’t wait to go back!

The entire crew of Magnifique II went above and beyond the call of duty. They were super accommodating and definitely were very client centered in everything they did. The chef was awesome, and all the dinners were five star. The guides were super knowledgeable about the areas we toured, and their narratives were always value added. I will definitely be returning on future tours and will certainly be recommending this tour to friends.

The boat was clean and beautiful and the crew was friendly and fun. Also, the food was spectacular and plentiful.

The crew was extremely helpful and always available to help.

Loved the whole trip. It is not just a bike & barge tour. Time to tour the cities you stop at is provided.
We did end up with a rainy afternoon, but the tour was flexible enough to work around this.

This was the most well organized and most thought out tour I have every taken. Every detail was concidered yet seemed effortless. Our guides Dora and Alen were laid back, yet professional. Loved that they had confidence that everyone in the group could complete every ride and enjoy it. There is some boat movement on windy days so plan to have something to help with that. Take your bathing suit and water shoes on every ride! So many opportunities to get in the water. Pace yourself as the day doesn't end after the bikes are stored. So much to do at every port. We loved every minute. It was the trip of a lifetime.

So much fun! Loved all the vineyards and charming towns we rode through. Our captain, mates, chef and guides were top notch! Highly recommend this bike tour, we loved it!

We really liked the old walled cities at the start, middle, and end of this trip! These cities were beautiful! Didn’t like the bike trails as well as the ones on our Germany bike/barge trip last year, as there were lots of dirt/gravel and a fair amount of riding along the edge of roads. Was not a fan of L’Estello barge bathrooms as they had the shower right in the bathroom, so everything gets wet and you had to run the A/C on a low temp to get everything to dry out. Food was great and the barge staff was very friendly and did a great job!! We did enjoy this trip a lot. Next year we booked an Italy bike/barge from Venice to Mantova.

Touring the Abby that is being restored. It was amazing! The fishing lodge/castle was very cool, too. The guide and barge staff were great and went out of their way to make us comfortable. The reason I gave it only 4 stars is we rode on busy roads more than I was expecting and more than I like to. But, we saw a lot more by leaving the canel trail. So, everything is a tradeoff. The canel path was dull after a day or so. I didn't see any areas that were being restored, like I see along bike trails here. That was disappointing, but probably something most people wouldn't notice. The fod was very good, at times, excellent. The guests were all very nice and extremely good natured about the rain we had almost every day. Overall, it was quite enjoyable.

I highly recommend this tour. Portugal is a phenomenal country and riding an electric bike through such a gorgeous landscape is a terrific experience. Do book a hotel for two or three nights so you can explore Porto before boarding the ship. Marvel at the city's beautiful tiles and the historic sights while enjoying tasty meals served at attractive restaurants.
Our guides were fun and quite wonderful and the ship lovely and comfortable with delectable meals served by kind staff. Don't hesitate to book this tour. Riding through Portugal and feeling the breezes blow by as you coast down steep hillsides past canyons, rivers and terraced vineyards is an an experience you will never forget.

I am not much of a biker but so enjoyed the biking. The best part was the people, our guide was delightful. The Flora was exceptional, we were treated to gourmet fresh home cooked meals. Felt at home but also catered too! Plenty drinks to choose from reasonably priced. Excellent coffee on demand! I hope to do it again!

Portugal is beautiful and seeing it from a ship on the Douro River was perfect for me. I enjoyed the excursion to Castelo Rodrigo and comments from our ship guide. Food was delicious and ample. Ship staff were particularly helpful hunting down my lost luggage and offering first aid when I tripped on the sill to the bathroom.

It was a wonderful trip! It was the perfect mix of biking, sightseeing, walking tours and fabulous food. The staff was helpful and personable. The cabins were small so we were glad we packed light. I would highly recommend this trip to anyone looking for a relaxing and fun vacation.

We had the most phenomenal week on the Erato! Biking through gorgeous villages and pine forests and olive groves, and being repeatedly blown away by views of the sea as you rounded another bend! It was extraordinary! On board the ship we had amazing and delicious healthy meals. Our guide Dionysius was outstanding. It was an unforgettable week!

Exploring the city of Trier was a highlight.

This adventure far exceeded my expectations. The guids were informative and friendly and very confident guiding 32 of us on bicycles into very busy Cities. This is something that I personally had never done however I felt comfortable with their guidance

1) I loved the 2 hour walking tour of Porto the night.
2) I loved sitting on the upper deck of the cruise watching the terraced vineyards as we cruised through the Douro River.
3) The ship itself was clean, the staff was wonderful and attentive. They were always ready to help with a smile! I loved the touch of robes and slippers in our rooms!
4) I loved biking everyday! Our guides, Horacio and Kevin were fantastic! I thought the e-bikes themselves were excellent.
