· Amsterdam to Bruges

The trip was great but Unfortunately we had cold wet weather for a few days which was annoying. The staff were good and very helpful. The scenery along the trails was mixed from incredible to okay and we had some special moments throughout the tour . The bikes could do with being upgraded to be more comfortable with wider tires for safety and suspension for comfort. . Overall the tour was fun and we made a lot of new friends.

· Luxury Danube Cruise & Cycle - Passau to Vienna

This is our fifth trip on the Merlijn in 10 years. The ship and crew have improved the service and accommodations steadily over those years. I would heartily recommend their trips for those looking for a small ship experience.

How did the difficulty level compare to your expectations?
As expected. The use of e-bikes has increased over 10 years. The biking should be doable for most with biking experience.

How did the difficulty level compare to your expectations?
Because France was experiencing a heatwave, riding in 39-degree heat was abit challenging. Maybe on days like that, it would be good to have a Plan B — perhaps a swim in the river, a ride along the canal, or another activity where everyone can cool off and still enjoy the day. ❤️

· Multi-Adventure Tour from Trogir

The island hopping in Croatia was fabulous. Also the co travelers were as good as we could have hoped for a group of family and friends traveling together, all of whom knew each other except for us. The captain of the ship was terrific, and the swimming at anchor was splendid. The scorching temperatures did impact the biking, but otherwise all was fun.

How did the difficulty level compare to your expectations?
The terribly hot temperatures made modification to the biking routes necessary. As a consequence, they were shorter in length and duration. However, two of the rides began with a lengthy and steep ascent, which coupled with the very high temperatures made for a challenge. normally, I would have given this difficulty level an easy grade, but for those temperatures

· Premium Danube River by E-Bike & Boat

The waters of the Danube were quite low so we arrived in Munich to find that the original bike and barge would not be possible. The local team quickly replanned this bike and barge trip in to a wonderful bike and van tour. Julius and Emre provided transportation to the wonderful cities to visit the beautiful cathedrals and churches and added plenty of history to expand on our visits. The hotels and restaurants were outstanding. Our guides shopped each evening to provide fresh lunches for each day. We probably saw more as we spent more time in each community instead of returning to the ship. We cannot thank Julius, Emre and the team enough for their turning an extremely troubled start of a cruise in to an unbelievable wonderful experience!

Biking was more strenuous than anticipated. Didn’t realize there was so much van transportation from boat to biking locations. Very disappointed in Normandy and American Cemetery experience. Only 35 minutes allotted. Should have spent at least two hours there. Guides were excellent. Boat service was excellent.

Biking was more strenuous than anticipated. Didn’t realize how much van riding from boat was required. Disappointed in very short visit to Normandy and American Cemetery. Terra nova staff were excellent and tried their best to accommodate obvious structural problems in how this trip was set up.

· Metz to Cochem

The guides and staff were excellent. Food was wonderful and the scenery picturesque. After viewing the trip I am glad we choose starting in Metz because Cochem was an ideal place to end. The AC was a little challenging. This year the temperature were extremely high and the upper deck common area didn’t have AC. The stateroom’s AC also couldn’t quite keep up. Overall a really wonderful experience

· Flavors of Italy: The Very Best of Emilia-Romagna

How could I ride a bicycle across this wonderful region and gain two pounds over the course of the week?

The food is a star attraction, of course -- from the lasagna Bolognese, to the fried gnocchi (with the region's famous prosciutto), to the parmigiano reggiano and true balsamic vinegars (both tasted on brilliant tours included!), and to the culatello and other delicacies of Parma. (I even took a pasta-making class in Parma with an excellent teacher in her centuries-old home.)

But the cities and the people are stars too. I'm not a super-big fan of churches, but the cathedrals in Bologna, Modena, and Parma are stunning, as are the surrounding neighborhoods -- clean, safe, good shopping. Italians are known for friendliness, but I've visited large parts of the country and I think it's fair to say the people of the Emilia region are the friendliest. Go into any place, offer a warm greeting ("Bongiorno" or "Salve"), show a little curiosity, and people will shower you with affection. I visited a pub in Modena famous for its beer selection, and other customers wouldn't let me pay.

I did the "self-guided" version of the trip, which worked out well because the GPS tracks were excellent, but my selection of dates (over which I didn't have much control) could have been better. The first week of August is always hot, and temps during my ride reached 100-104 F (39-40 C) each day. I still had a blast because I paced myself, hugged shady trees, and drank lots of water. More importantly, the design of this tour is excellent -- with two nights at each stop. That allowed "optional rides" on off-days, but for me, it offered days of rest and rehydration (and chances to try more foods).

This is a very good trip, arranged by an excellent company with good staff, good bicycles and good communications (in case of emergency). A group ride in cooler temperatures would have been good, but I still had a great time.

  • The balsamic vinegar labeled "Modena" is good, but this is the variety that is aged 10, 12, or even 25 years. (photo by Fulton A.)
  • Sorry, have to include this photo in a parmigiano reggiano aging warehouse! (photo by Fulton A.)
  • We solved all the world's problems -- and they wouldn't let me pay for my beer! (photo by Fulton A.)
  • A pasta-making class I took in Parma. (It's not too hard with a little technique.) (photo by Fulton A.)

Scenery is outstanding and tour guides and coordinator were great. We enjoyed our time with our group cycling through this beautiful country and enjoying gourmet dinners each night. Some hotels were lacking amenities but that was a small price to pay for biking through quaint, beautiful small villages along the fjords.

· The Grand Tour - Amsterdam, Bruges & Paris

The Grand Tour was the perfect tour for our family. From booking with the fantastic agents at Tripsite to our final day in Amsterdam, everything was streamline. I wanted an easy introduction to biking for our two 20 something yr old sons and their partners. They are not avid bikers like myself so it was important to do a tour that was fun, easy and would promote the sport of cycling. I got them e-bikes. This tour did it all! The Magnifique X was beautiful. We had rooms on upper deck. The sliding window let in an incredible amount of light and made the room appear a bit larger. The beds and pillows were cozy with a nice size bathroom considering being on a barge. There was a lot of room on boat to lounge around and enjoy the scenic views. The Magnifique X staff were the best. They went above and beyond to ensure our comfort and safety. Our chef was Sidi. Some of the best food we’ve ever tasted came from this amazing Chef! It was the best food on entire trip including Paris and Amsterdam. The BBQ evening and chocolate Mousse were our fave’s. Our bike guides Eva and Caroline were knowledgeable. Safety was always a priority. We had daily updates on the following day’s itinerary. I highly recommend this Family Friendly tour.

· Bordeaux to Sarlat Wine and E-Bike Tour

The bike ride from Saint Emilion to Bergerac was magical. The bike path was car-free and protected and the scenery was stunning.

Suggestions:
- Leave early in the morning so you have time to eat a leisurely lunch along the way and then explore the next town
- Bring an extra water bottle so you always have a backup
- Bring biking sunglasses (that block the wind) and gloves

· Classic Tuscany E-Bike tour

I really enjoyed the trip. The accomodation was good, the bike was good and the navigation app worked well although a bit quirky a couple of times.
My trip was during the heat wave so made the days challenging. The trip was more hilly than I expected. Combined with the heat I found that leaving at sunrise was the best way to survive. I missed hotel breakfast with this plan and didn’t feel like stopping along the route. I did enjoy the destination towns though. Not much exploring on route due to the heat.
A great trip and met my expectations.

· King of the Fjords

We just finished an incredible hiking tour with Tripsite and couldn't recommend it more highly! We upgraded all of our hotels - Hotel Walaker was our absolute favorite - and the food everywhere was amazing. The hikes were fantastic; the first one was the hardest, but completely manageable and my personal favorite. The local operator was also wonderfully flexible, helping us adjust our itinerary to do the short ice hike directly on the glacier (a must-do!). Our guide was super helpful with local bike rental spots and afternoon riding routes, and all the bus logistics between stops were punctual, easy, and stress-free. We loved every second of our time on this trip!

Only downside for me was the cycling groups were too large and having inexperienced riders in these large groups made for some issues at times.

This is my 4th Tripsite bike and boat trip. Overall great trip. They are all different. The ship was beautiful and attracted lots of attention when we were in port. The staff and guides were wonderful. We enjoyed the cycling and scenery. Distances were perfect. The food was good, but it may be better to serve family style for dinner rather than buffet.

Simone & Elize made my trip extra special as both were so much fun to spend our day on rides and walks through towns! Couldn’t wait for dinner each night as our chef made the most delicious meals! Of course, the Atlantis was so beautiful and loved helping hoist the sails one day. Entire crew was so helpful and friendly.
Truly loved the wonderful bike lanes in both countries.
Thank you, Tripsite, for another amazing, exciting, and memorable experience!
