What a way to experience Portugal! Riding along the spectacular coastline, through farmlands, vineyards, small villages, visiting historic attractions and so much more. Seafood and Portuguese pastries were daily treats. Some parts of the tour were challenging with cobblestones, rough trails, and many long hills to climb. This was offset with lovely cycling paths through forests and along the coast. We loved the e-bikes and accommodations arranged for us were first class. Our only disappointment was that we could not spend more time exploring the towns and the beautiful beaches along the way.

This trip fulfilled our expectations wonderfully. The guides were great, kept us moving, gave interesting history at stops along the route and always were helpful and friendly. The food was first class and the suite was fine. One suggestion - bring a Tupperware type dish to put your lunch (sandwich, cheese, olives etc) into. You’ll be very grateful you did!

We have so many great memories of our trip that it is hard to pin down an "absolute favorite". Here are some of our best and most favorites memories, in no particular order of importance! The staff was so welcoming and helpful, we felt connected to all of them right from the start! The bike riding was fantastic--the ease of the e bikes, to the scenery, and then the visits at the historical sites such as the Roman mosaic, the Puerta Nigra, and the bunker from WWI in the farmer's field, we thought we had the best guides and were very well informed about the details of our day. Our accommodations aboard the Iris were comfortable, clean and well maintained. The other passengers were a lot of fun, and we felt comfortable spending time with each group. I cannot say enough about the food! We all looked forward to our excellent dinner after a long day of cycling, and the breakfasts were filling and tasty, every time! One day, after a 35-mile ride, some of the other passengers decided to continue for another 12 miles, but many of us chose to stay on the barge. The captain welcomed us into the wheelhouse and we were educated on how to operate the barge while going through a lock and dam!

Hello, Just a comment about the hotel in Porto. Most of us on the tour are two people staying together. This is usually two women but could be two men or a man and a woman who are only friends. The hotel in Porto was a room divided into a shower and toilet using glass partians. You can see everything and hear everything. Not good if you and your roomy are not in a relationship. But, the hotel was very close to the partner office and otherwise was good.

Porto hotel was only suitable for husband and wife.

Loved the route- everything from back country trails to highways.

We enjoyed this tour so much! We were one of the last tours of the season, late September, which ended up being the perfect time to go as the weather was not too hot. It was ideal for cycling. It was less ideal for swimming, but we still managed to have a few opportunities for water fun. We also ended up with a really fun group of people on our boat, so that definitely added to our enjoyment. Ebikes were a huge plus for the long climbs. Those on regular bikes in our group were pretty wiped out each day. We had two guides, Mirta and Kristopher, and they were excellent! They gave us good information about each stop. The boat was an older, wooden boat, but the rooms were comfortable the rooftop deck was a huge plus! Nearly everyone we encountered spoke English and most signs with in both English and Croatian. It was a very easy country to get around in and experiencing some of the islands by boat and bike was a spectacular way to go!

The biking riding! Each day was a different experience, e-bikes were a lot of fun and the guides did a great job with the daily tours!

The coastline of Portugal, the cities, towns and villages were a feast for the eyes. This trip gives you everything for cycling- cobblestone streets, cycling paths,dirt roads, forests, lagoons, and challenging hills. The e-bikes were terrific and accommodations excellent. Highly recommended!

Every part of our trip was Enjoyable! The bikes were comfortable and easy to use, the rides were not too strenuous but rather “ a good day on a bike”. The routes gave us an Immersive look at the country side. Our guides were Fun and helpful. The staff of the ship went above and beyond and even provided a cake and a celebration for my husband’s Birthday!! Truly , a Bike and Barge trip is the Best way to see the Country! I could have turned around on the last day and started Another Trip! Thank you to our Wonderful Crew on the Magnifique I!!!!

This was our 8th bike & boat tour with Tripsite and once again it was an outstanding trip. It's difficult to pick a favorite since each one has it's own highlights and we always love to embrace the differences but this one really excelled in every category.

The route - A perfect mix of paved dedicated trails along the 3 rivers, winding streets through classic little medieval towns and a few stretches though bustling cities like Frankfurt. We probably went through a few more small towns and villages than on some of our other trips which was a real plus. We generally had time to stop and look around and sample some local goodies. A highlight was riding through the woods surrounding the Frankfurt airport and stopping to visit the Zeppelin Museum, fascinating history and a lot of exhibits focusing on the Hindenburg. We averaged 26 miles a day on generally level paths. We opted for the e-bikes - we could have done OK without them but when we hit a bit of a climb at the end of the day it was pretty nice to be able to get a little boost. Every night we were docked close enough to the center of town that we were able to take a walk after dinner and get some local flavor - this is one of the things that we like the best about these trips.

The boat - The Iris may not look too fancy from the outside but once inside we were blown away with the way she has been updated and renovated from her days as a cargo ship. The decor and appointments are first class, the cabins are roomy with comfortable beds and well equipped bathrooms, dining area is well laid out, and the front lounge is a cozy place to enjoy a beverage from the self service bar.

The people - The crew and guests are always key to a successful trip and we had a superb group. Our captains, mate and host (Dick & Adrienne, Mark & Anna) did a fantastic job with the day to day operations and made sure that all of our needs were met. Our chef Berber served up amazing meals every day with creative combinations of fresh ingredients that were quite welcome after a long day on the trail. Our guides Ferry and Treasa did a great job of planning the days journey and managing our fairly large group of 23 bikers. The pace and route needed to be adjusted a few times due to weather and construction but at the end of the day everything went smoothly and a good time was had by all. As we have experienced on all of our trips the guests were a fun group from varied backgrounds with the right attitude for an active vacation. Most had been on at least one bike and boat trip previously, some on the Iris as well.

A 5 star experience - we would highly recommend this trip on the Iris for both novice and experienced bikers. Excellent on every measure.

Our time on the Merlijn was fabulous! Coen and Cristina, the ship's owners, are the absolute best as was the crew. Everything from the accommodations, the food, the tours and the biking was top notch. We especially enjoyed the bike helmets that allowed us to listen to our guide provide guidance as well as historical information on our rides. We are already looking forward to choosing another tour aboard the Merlijn.

I enjoyed the last day of the bike trip going into Granada... the scenery was very enjoyable with the reservoirs and the forests and winding roads. They other part of the trip was also nicebut you can only admire sooo many Olive trees! I enjoyed all the castle views. I think our tour van driver, Steve Watson, did an excellent job of telling us all about the country, the history,, great sites to look for and good places to eat.

The trip was fantastic. We really enjoyed the different little towns along the journey and the variety of landscapes and various terrain despite the fact that some of them were a little challenging at times. Each little town had something different and wonderful to offer. The only thing we would change is maybe a couple free days of riding in order to enjoy some of the little towns, such as Sintra and Nazare. The staff was very courteous and professional, and provided us with all the information we needed for the journey. They were prompt to our requests and readily available to address all of our concerns.

The trip was amazing- Courteous staff and tour guides. Dora and Alen were very attentive and made sure we all were comfortable and we having fun. The staff of the boat Marijana, Ivana, Dante, Stanko Ante, Dominik, Marin and the Captain Filip treated everyone like family. This was a trip of a lifetime and exceeded our expectations due to the team on the boat making this a very memorable trip that will always be an amazing memory. Looking forward to our next adventure with TripSite in the future!

This tour truly gives an authentic dutch experience! After visiting Amsterdam, I really enjoyed biking through the countryside and exploring the beautiful historic towns along this route. The medieval architecture was a true highlight along with great town markets and friendly locals.
The dinners aboard the Magnifique II were excellent with a good variety throughout the week. The crew was always helpful and friendly and made our stay enjoyable!
Overall a wonderful trip, I look forward to returning to this area!

The Magnifique II felt like a luxury floating hotel—spotlessly clean, organised, and exceptionally comfortable. The crew went above and beyond to ensure our comfort, and the service was top-notch. A special mention goes to the chef, who amazed us each evening with delicious three-course dinners, highlighting local flavors and variety. The onboard bar was well-stocked, offering a range of drinks to enjoy as we relaxed after a day of cycling.
The bike routes were perfect, mostly flat and very scenic, providing a relaxing yet engaging ride through Holland’s landscapes. Our guides were knowledgeable and fluent in English, sharing fascinating historical insights and helping us connect with the places we visited on a deeper level. We explored a range of cities and each destination had its own charm, history, and natural beauty.

My husband and I both agreed that this trip was the perfect balance of several things. The boat itself was just lovely!!! (clean, plenty of room to roam, sunning deck amazing, dining room/bar were cozy, our cabin was perfect size with windows), staff was so very friendly and exhibited exceptional attention to details (ie: early morning wiping down wet rails, food allergy concerns, even remembering our preferences), food was excellent, biking experience unforgettable, guides (Dora and Elan) blended as part of our group and gave very informative history lessons , plenty of time to walk/shop and enjoy the areas alone or as a group, A very well rounded, full, exceptional experience!!!! Many new friendships made! Beautiful country, honored to have experienced it. Oh, wine was delightful!!!! Can't forget that!

Having never been on a bike tour before, the Authentic Holland trip was a perfect first time experience! There were two routes provided each day, one for stronger cyclists and one for those like me who were more-so "along for the ride." This was perfect as it allowed everyone to enjoy their rides and get the most of what they wanted out of the trip. The way the cycling immersed us into the area was unbelievable. We rode through small towns, endless farmlands, lush forests, historic sites and even a bit into Amsterdam. The guides always made us feel safe and really took the time to get to know us and our interests, making the trip a more personal experience all around.

I cannot say enough about the Magnifique II or the crew, either! We felt right at home each time we returned to the boat, the staff always smiling and waiting to serve us refreshing drinks and a delicious dinner. Our chef was phenomenal and each meal was a unique spread! We certainly never went hungry! Our cabin was cozy and clean with a shower stocked with shampoo and body wash, as well as plenty of towel replacements throughout the week. This made our stay more comfortable and carefree. (We even had a towel warmer!)

Overall, I am beyond impressed with the trip and those who put it together. I will absolutely be taking another cycling tour someday and look forward to working with Tripsite again for that next adventure.

The trip on the Merlijn was wonderful. The captain, crew, and guide were all 5 star. Accommodations on the barge were very nice, with modern baths, excellent lighting, and adequate storage. The guide was very knowledgeable about the history of the areas we biked through. The wine tour we had one evening was the best I have ever taken. One evening we all had a meal out at a German restaurant that was delightful. I like the bike helmet they provided. It networked with the guides helmet and she was able to give us information as we road on excellent bike paths.

The biking in the southern France with the scenery was fantastic! The guided bike guide was a fountain of historical knowledge of the area as well.

The food was delicious and the chef had vegan options for us each day. My favorite part was riding each morning and then coming back to the ship to a nice meal. Even though it was mid October, we enjoyed several "cold plunge" dips in the Adriatic Sea which helped alleviate sore muscles..

The Authentic Holland tour on the Magnifique II was incredible! This bike and boat tour took us through charming Hanseatic towns, beautiful nature reserves, and scenic waterways, with easy cycling routes perfect for all levels. Each day was a new adventure, from exploring Amsterdam to riding along the picturesque Rhine and IJssel rivers.

The Magnifique II was top-notch, with amazing meals and a friendly crew who went above and beyond to make us feel at home. If you’re looking to explore the Netherlands in a unique and active way, this trip is perfect!

The scenery along the Mosel River was spectacular and the heritage buildings and the history associated with them was both interesting and educational. The friendships that developed along the course of the trip added to our enjoyment and memories. The food was excellent although possible less in the way of trying to produce high end dishes and providing more in the way of comfort foods especially during the cold and rainy weather soups and stews would have been appreciated.

As a traveler I always keep my expectations low, because, well, you never know.... and in my experience the best things happen when you do not expect them. I can certainly say this tour far exceeded my expectations and left me with memories to last a lifetime. The cycling offers much variety and our guide Tom always made it more fun. The Magnifique II is perfect for getting a good nights sleep and also for lounging around enjoying the people and scenery around you. There wasn't a meal I didn't enjoy. Holland is beautiful and a perfect destination for a bike tour. To everyone involved in making this happen, WELL DONE!

Great scenery, beautiful, crystal clear waters, more than ample “excellent” food, engaging high quality staff, Harmonia and team were great, bikes were well maintained….and learned about “Turbo” to make the biking much more doable. Olive Museum tour was exceptional and quite informative. Take full credit for ideal weather. Tour in Split was top notch.

The trip was terrific!! The guides, crew, yacht, & food were great ; especially the guides. The cabin was comfortable & quiet. We had a great group. There were many positive comments. The bikes were good. You needed e-bikes for this trip. Croatia is very hilly; some grades were 10%. I would rate the rides moderate to hard. Overall, this trip is a very good value. Ed Conroy

This was our second trip on the Linda in Croatia and our 7th bike and boat trip through Tripsite and they continue to be the best vacations that we take. Croatia is stunning and the tour took us through an amazing collection of towns and villages along the coastline and in the interior of the Istrian peninsula. Our previous trip was island hopping in Kvarner Bay and this one had a different flavor but was equally enjoyable. The route was a combination of paved local roads and graveled trails. We opted for the hybrid e-bikes once again and were glad we did as there were some climbs that would have been pretty tough for us casual senior bikers!

The crew was outstanding and we were excited to see familiar faces from our trip 2 years ago. Our guides Kristofor and Ivan did a great job of laying out and explaining our daily ride and took care of us to make sure everyone had a safe and enjoyable time. The stops in the towns along the way were well timed and always interesting with opportunities to taste some of the local food and beverages. The meals on the boat were delicious and and welcome after a day of biking thanks to our chef Super Mario and usually followed by a relaxing walk around the town where we were docked. The passengers were an eclectic mix with 17 guests from 7 different countries and everyone had a super attitude and were always ready to embrace the experiences.

As always the webpage accurately represents the itinerary for the week. We were blessed with good weather so there were no unexpected changes to the plan other than a few route revisions due to road construction. We're already planning on returning to Croatia to explore the southern coast on one of the Dalmatia trips.

This was a beautiful boat, the food was excellent and the bike guides were great. The room and bathroom were very spacious and everything was extremely clean and tidy. We really enjoyed the trip very much.

The beautiful scenery and smells biking through forests of pine and eucalyptus trees as I’m a nature lover. Impressive long sand beaches with varying sized waves. Our last leg from Sintra was exceptionally spectacular.
I would like to have spent two days in Sintra and maybe some other small towns.

This trip met all of my personal goals and expectations. The biking was challenging and the tour guides were excellent. The meals were great and well prepared. The ship crew members anticipated our needs. There is no better way to truly experience the beautiful Ionian Islands than by bike and boat. Otherwise you would only see the port villages unless you hired a car or van to take you to the scenic views. My only suggestion would be to include more historical stops.
