The beautiful landscape and communities we road through as well as expert guides. The crew of the Iris and the amenities were amazing also.

My wife and I rented e-bikes for the trip which allowed us more time to enjoy the sights and restaurants along the way! The routes chosen for us were perfect and navigation was easy with the information and GPS tracks provided through Tripsite. One highlight was the scenery as it transitioned though cities, pastoral country-side and the beaches of the Netherlands. Another highlight included the many people we chatted with along the cycle paths or at picnic tables as we ate our lunch/snacks - it's amazing what we had in common with the people we met along the way! Biking is definitely an adventure we will do again.

The biking! Be prepared for a quick visit to Budapest and Vienna. More time is needed at these stunning world class cities!

This trip was fantastic. The bikes were top notch and the luggage transfer went perfectly. We enjoyed the scenery and the out of the way routes, although some of the trails could have used grass trimming.

Our Skipper Willie is amazing! Watching her maneuver our large schooner into tight spaces was remarkable. She was also excellent informing us about conditions, explaining the dam, etc. On the other hand, she was very sensitive to the needs of her crew and willing to help do anything when needed.

I most appreciated the small group experience. there were only 18 on our tour and it was perfect. Our group of 6 booked a year ago so we could get a spot on the Vita Pugna and I was very happy with it. I cannot imagine have a group bigger group, perhaps 30 and I think that would have slowed down our progress on the bikes immensely. This size group I felt like we all had the opportunity to meet others, enjoy the company of different people each meal, but also got to know them a little bit. I was also very happy with the support and service of all of the staff (Capt Bugie, Silvia, Michael and Hugo)

Great staff, incredible food, comfortable boat, and a great tour with fun and memorable stops such as glass factory, cheese factory, grappa wine tasting, and a carousel tour - so much fun with a great group of people!

The beautiful scenery along the bike route was one of the highlights of this trip. We enjoyed pedaling through grapevine covered fields, seeing all the blooming red poppies, visiting the Monet exhibit in the old quarry, touring Arles, seeing the Pont du Gard, wine tasting and cruising into Avignon. The crew was great. And Michela our tour guide was truly one of the best we’ve ever had.

The Merlijn is a beautiful boat, very clean and up to date. The bikes are brand new, easy to use. The food was wonderful and the staff so friendly and attentive. I don't have anything negative to say about this experience, it was so much fun.

It would be hard to pin point the best part of the tour in general. Italy is amazing. If food is at the top of your list, you will not be disappointed. We ate our way through our tour. The food is delicious! The tour itself is lovely and the accommodations chosen for us were perfect. The Italians are a genial, hospitable people. We were also treated to an incredible cooking class at Tenuta DonnaAnna. We made lunch with pasta, desert and then dined with the family. We all agreed that this was the high point of our tour. Go for the history, the beauty, the food and local wines…..all fabulous.

The only this that we all agreed on was the difficulty level of the riding which was Easy to Moderate. We are all fit and capable riders and the days’ riding was long and a couple of the days were very hilly….long, long hills Definitely daunting for someone that is not conditioned to riding. Moderate would be more appropriate.

The two guides, Hetty and Tim, made the trip. Meals in the Iris were very good. The crew was friendly and helpful. Bikes were comfortable and were easy to use. The nine day trip was perfect.

Sugiro repensaram dois hotéis.
Primeiro em Montefalco porque o quarto era muito pequeno para 3 pessoas, apesar da excelente localização.
Segundo em Assis, a distancia do hotel da cidade não é agradável visto que é necessária uma caminhada pela estrada.
Adoramos e faremos outros roteiros!

Biking on the coast As well as having two guides that where fantastic.

It was a great way to see a lot of the country in a short period of time, without feeling stressed by schedules. Marcel was particularly excellent as a tour guide and information resource. The crew was friendly and accommodating. The food was good enough- I didn't expect 5-star meals , but there was lots of it, and most meals were quite tasty. The Hanseatic League map was great, and coupled with the Ride with GPS app, I never felt concerned that I was lost or stranded in a foreign country. The length of rides was appropriate, and when my bike began to squeak mid-trip, a new bike was immediately provided.
On the TripSite side of things, Carla was very helpful with scheduling

What an incredible trip and we are SO thankful to have chosen the Merlijn barge. The crew were so nice and the barge was beautiful. I would HIGHLY recommend this trip and this particular barge. They have GREAT bikes available, incredible tour guides, helmets with speakers in them to help make the tour very safe and informative.

We did a bike tour and it was great. The rides are not super long but beautiful! The guides Horracio, Amos and Fabian were soooooo great. Our group just has the best time with them. Personable, safety focuses, professional, fun, knowledgable. The boat is very nice and rooms were perfect. We love the Staff on boat as well!!

I enjoyed using the supplied route sheets and of course the all important ride with gps. This allowed us to travel at our own pace and stop when and where we wanted. The route along rivers let us pass through varied terrain, from agricultural lands to steep walled "canyons". We stayed mostly at Inns in small towns which were quiet and picturesque. The Czech Republic is a gem and I would recommend visiting, no matter how you get there.

We had a great time. The service and accommodations were fantastic. The country was beautiful. We e biked everyday. Trip site had all the T’s crossed. Went off without any issues. Our third trip with Tripsite.

Experiencing the sights while riding a bike is magical. Forest, farms, charming small towns, stunning cities, and castles galore. Loved meeting new people. Loved being on the water and enjoying the scenery gliding by. And the food, wow!

Everything was amazing, the local representatives, the hotels and the staff in the hotels, the views, the bicycles, the local people that live in the area, we had the best time.
Everything was clear and we got a response for every question we had.

This was an amazing trip, the boat was clean and well appointed, the crew and tour leaders were exceptional, the food was incredible and the rides each day were so lovely riding through the country side and in and out of all the little towns and bigger cities. We did the guided tour and were so happy we did. Our tour guides were informative and communicated well about what to expect each day. Our first bike/barge trip and we are hooked!

My husband & I booked this trip with 7 of our friends. We thoroughly enjoyed the entire experience. My biggest fear was becoming motion sick by sleeping on the water. This never happened, nor did it when sailing. The L'Estello barge was excellent, as was her captain LUCI & crew: Michaela, Giovanni & Omar & Christina. The meals were very tasty & we enjoyed the opportunity to make daily lunches. The routes were excellent. A BIG shout out to Michaela who we felt was a superb rider leader and are so happy she was assigned to us. She is very knowledgeable and gave lots of information about the areas we rode through and even on our nightly "digestive" walks. The whole crew was very accommodating and seemed to anticipate our every need. The bikes were excellent which made each daily ride so enjoyable. The size of the cabins were very good and bigger than I thought they would be. The only negative was leaving Aigues-Mortes as transportation is limited leaving that town. That being said, Michaela worked her magic and secured taxis for all 9 of us who were leaving to different countries and had connections to meet.

The staff on the boat were awesome. Friendly, welcoming, knowledgeable and willing to share their knowledge and tips. Staff were Marius (captain), Harm (bike guide), Barbara (chef), and Peter (assistant to all). Harm provided a map of the day’s plan at breakfast. The bikes were adjusted as needed. It was great seeing the country from the bike trails. Navigating through the cities was daunting but Harm got us all safely to the boat wherever it was docked. There was opportunity to explore in the evenings after dinner. Barbara is a most accomplished chef with an easy going manner and good humour. Dinners were much looked forward to! Dietary needs were accommodated. The large dining/lounge area was bright. There were 2 outdoor sitting areas, one with a hard roof. It was enjoyable to sit outside and enjoy conversation with the other passengers. There was always the option of staying on the barge for the day instead of biking. The only improvement I would suggest is more planned washroom stops. I would, without hesitation, recommend this trip.
